I'm generally a very sensible driver, but why whenever I decide to welly or throw it round a bit, usually on a quiet or open road is there a copper always parked round the corner?
Tonights encounter....... Wellied it in 4th down a slip onto the Motorway, up to 5k (you work out how fast I was going), hmm that was fun I thought to myself. Slipped into 5th and cruising along - suddenly out of nowhere an unmarked car with two day-glo coppers in the front seats is right up my back-end, one of them looking at my car and making notes.
Parp
I shat it.
Rolled it down to a more acceptable speed and got into slow lane, me thinking the worst, they floored it and carried on, didn't even look at me.
Jeez

It's the motorway that gets me, unmarked cars crawling all over it. Traffic is moving (maybe a bit fast) but everyone's happy. Try to keep my eyes open as they often similar estates etc, but this was a big Citroen MPV thing.... I should just stop sometimes driving like a knob perhaps, but the Saxo is too much fun!

i was in my dads sport mercedes and we was doing 135mph on the lyn road, (the road was clear) then we saw a bit of traffic so easied off to about 120mph and saw a ford mondeo and throught nothing of it, it was an unmarked copped :( so slow down fast to 60mph and by this time we was upside of him and he did nothing. even tho he must of seen us speeding!! could not miss us, we came out of know where to along side him. lucky i guess.

If it's unmarked, they can't really prove anything can they??

it doesn't matter if its marked or not if the speedo is calibrated and you were timed you could be done.
like wise if the speedo is not calibrated but there is two officers in the car you could be reported for summons although is not ideal.

But dont forget jsut because you were seen dosent mean you will be stopped im sure that most times there is something more important to do

As for the original thread the motorway limit should be removed from 20:00 until 06:30 hours each day in my opinion

unmarked cars dont have cameras or measuring equipement, so therefore they cannot prove or do anything about speeding, u also dont have to stop for unmarked cars, but marked cars you do..

so what do you do for unmarked cars? if they put the blues on you just carry on till you get to where you want to go?

Mate next time you see one look at the mirror on the front window and just to the left of it will be a black box about the size of half a house brick. Thats the camera. There will also be one in the rear obviously facing back.

No car has measuring equipment in it for speeding two static objects I.E lampost are used and a time distance calculation is done hence the need for the speedo to be calibrated.

As for not having to stop lol next time you see a plain car do something so they indicate for you to stop then try not stoppin lol i think you will soon realise your error :panic: :panic:

LOL u also dont have to stop for unmarked cars, but marked cars you do.. funniest thing ive heard this week :clapping:

He's Kinda right.
If its unmarked and Doesn't even have Blues or Sirens, You are Fully within your rights not to stop, should you doubt their identity.

If its unmarked and has Blues / Sirens.

I was thinking of proper unmarked cars. If a cid car for instance with no lights then no you dont have too stop i meant unmaked with lights in the gril.l If its one of those then it is wise too stop lol

Yep!
Tbh all Unmarked cars are for different purposes.
Some might have a camera or 2.
Others might have full traffic equipment including speed equipment.
Things change so often now too..

i think it all comes down to your understanding of a unmarked cop car :) with or witout lights etc... maybe why some people saying different things

In hants police used to park their unmarked cars on the army base, we remembered the plates and what cars they were (usualy skodas and calibras) they have blues hidden behind the grill on the front and on the parcel shelf :y:

The usual unmarked goes around here, a bright red Ford mondeo. They don't like to stick the speed limit though which really gets on most peoples tits! The harsh braking at the speed cameras is what makes me laugh.

Not true my friend. My mates a copper, and the cars they drive arent insured. They dont need insurance as they are goverment funded so to speak. So if they crash they just get paid for if that makes sense. At the end of the day, if there is a bad emergency and they are the closest ones there, they will probably get called to the scene.
