Might be better off getting a quick shift kit mate - that'll shorten the throw.

10 minutes work roughly. Never fitted one myself, but I think it's a matter of one or two bolts, undo, fit it, bolt up again.
I'm sure someone will be able to specify exactly. And Kam racing sell them. :y:

get an angle grinder in there, if you have one, put the seat right back on its runners...
take the plastic sleeve off the end and cut about an inch off, replace the plastic sleeve and gearknob and give it a road test...
my mate cut 2 and a half inches off of the one in his 106 lol
alternatively use a hacksaw but will take a while

^^ you'd be better taking the stick out of the car to do that.
pull the gear gaitor off and under to screw the is at the base of the stick. pull the centre console towards the rear of the car and lift up. pop the window buttons out (if you have them) then there is 4 10mm nuts you need to take off that hold the gear stick in place. the lift it up slightly and then you need to take off the linkage you will need a 10mm and 12mm spanner, un-do the bolt and slide it out.
job done, thats only a brief description but you should get the idea
