dont think the mk2 lights look all that different from the mk1 ones to be honest and im keeping the tinted windows and stickers on for the moment while i do other mods and keeping the alloys as they are brand new.

Ah sweet man.

Must be well nice having a quality car at that age, but annoying at the same time cos you want to get it on the road lol. Good that you can drive it on a track though.

I wouldn't change your wheels like others have been saying. Although VTS and VTR's are nice, I like the ones you have, they're different and just set it off tbh.

Call me thick, but I can't seem to upload my pic... I get to the avatar bit but then it just gives me a choice of pics, no link to upload or anything!!??

Cheers.

Right even though my camera is not charged and i cant find the charger the thread will still go ahead, i will take some pictures on my phone and then post them up. right i have currently ordered new full vtr kit, because my side panels have little dents in them, and the rear trim are a bit broken, so i have orded all new ones so they are on the way and it will be in the body shop next week, also i have a set of vtr wheels im refurbing then spraying gloss black and keeping as a spare/track day use, so yeh its coming along good also im getting a new back bumper and getting my bonnet sprayed as there is a deep scratch in the bonnet so its getting sparyed so it will all be like new, also im thinking of Ordering a set of omp bucket seats design 2, in black for the front and just leaving the 106 gti rear bench in the back etc.

Makes me laugh tbh.

You're like what, 15? So it will be at least another 2 maybe even 3 years before you can start driving on the roads...

How are you finding all of the money to spend on this car? Taking it to the bodyshop, refurbing alloys, buying new interior, rear lights, new vtr kit (lol) when you are only 15?

What's the point? You'll probably write it off within the first few weeks of being passed anyway... no offence but that's what statistics show :(

Ah, maybe your parents are paying for all these mods. Does look like you live in a posh area.

Just think it's stupid how you're modifying your car when you won't be driving for at least two more years!

Oh and change the wheels buddy!

Just think it's stupid how you're modifying your car when you won't be driving for at least two more years!

Oh and change the wheels buddy!

Yeh im 15 thats right and i work every saturday to earn money for my car, and i have been saving for a little while getting pocket money etc, and i am not going to write my car of in the first week as im not a foul like all the idiots that go trying to race up and down country lanes.. so before you post stupid comments think before you post. and also how is it stupid im modifying my car when i wont be driving for 2 years alot of people on here started young owning a car 15,16, etc and if you read the first post i bought it as a project car, because i am studying motorvechile course at college, and wheels are personal opinion. and im not your buddy.

15th May 2008, 17:57
I think its good that at 15 your doing something decent in your spare time.
HOWEVER...
I know a few people have said this, but I think you are gonna be slightly pssed when you get an insurance quote. (if your doing it the legit way)

You've got to bare in mind that the car is ins group 7 and its a 1.6.
I live in a low crime area, I'm 17 and have an ins group 4 car, value £2k and its a 1.1.
It cost me £1700 WITH Pass Plus TPFT.
Ive had quotes for a vtr, W reg and it was £3544 TPFT.

Also the cost of living is going up and theres no way insurance will come down for cars.

I think you've done a good job of the car, but I would just consider the insurance unless you are sorted legit, e.g it been on a fleet insurance for a company any driver.

Again, nice work.

saxomark
15th May 2008, 18:10
Yes mate, i know about the insurance, and thanks for comments i do have the insurance coverd as some people my dad know can get me a good quote, and i know its going to be about £3000 but ahh well better to have a nice vtr driving a round rather then drive a crappy little car for 1 year to get insurance cheaper and it wont be too much different.

:y::y::y:Congrats on the progress so far! I think it looks sweet, and at 15, you're doing a good job with it. I'd also like to say too, that I prefer your wheels to standard, and also prefer your lights, and it's funny how there are a lot of people quick to point out how that they prefer what quite a lot of others do, i.e wheels, lights ect, but it's you, and others like you that are unique, and stand out from the crowd. :y:

TOO LOW! what you on about. a car can never be too low, im dropped nearly 100mm and its fine, just get the right set up and avoid speed bumps, although they still arnt too much of a problem, id say for every 20mm lower than -40 its looks twice as good. Only thing with it being that low is its bumpy as fook.

My dad drove me in the saxo vtr to fcs, and like said in all the other pages.. and answers to the same question you asked i work saturdays valeting cars and get payed for that and also get pocked money every month. and sell other things i have no use for.. and how can it be liess ? when i have clearly bought all of these things.. and most of the things i try to do my self to save on getting them done.

Hey like the car, not a big fan on the lights but heh! each to there own... and I think you might want to get your clocks checked, unless you drove off a cliff and did a 150mph free fall. Other than that really tidy and impressive considering your age, I could of never had a car that young! far to much temptation!

Update: I am selling the raceland buckets and getting more bucket style seats as they was more for show.. lol i know i keep changing the bloudy interior lol.. but here it goes i bidded on some Brand new corbeu carrera recling sport bucket seats. rrp £500.00 without subframes,

I got them for £200.00, with sliding subframes, and brand new 3 point luke harnesses. so grabbed a good bargain there. and here is a picture of them, i am also retrimming and making a false floor in the back of the car as the rear seats have been removed.but my car is still in the body shop, will be back monday or tuesday now.

you dont need to drill holes

pull up the carpet and behind the handbrake there is a bung in the floor you can use

nee to get the exhaust and heat shields off the underside and whack a bolt on the thread
and require to just grind down the bottom of the eye bolt but imo its tidier than drilling everywere
