Hi i went out this morning and turned my car over but did not start i have only had the car a few days and dont really know to much about it it is a 1.1 saxo bat light came on and stayed on could it be that the bat is not being charged by the alternator is this a common thing to happen.

And would a power steering set up fit an 1998 1.1 i have found the whole set up with everything i would need but will it work properly.

Thanks lors

Sounds like either the battery is on its way out or the alternator is not charging the battery, you would have to get them tested to see what is not charging properly.

If yours doesn't have power steering, i think it would be a bit pointless to put it on, mine hasn't got it, i don't think there is that much difference.

If the battery light come it can be
1 belt as come loose
2 belt as broken
3 alternator as stop working
4 broken live wire to the alternator
5 blow fuse on the ign side of the alternator light (if the fuse as blow the light will not come on when switching the ign on but will come on when the engine is started )

Right ok thanks will check all that tomorrow the belt has not broken but could be lose. The reason i thought alternator was coz the bat was dead and did not have any power to start the car.
