Bene having a knock on the front suspension under slow driving/turning

So i decided to check the top strut bolts and the bolts in the footwells.

Ones in front footwells were loose so did them, checked passenger side strut that was fine, went to drivers and this bolt felt loose so went to tighten and this happened:...... smileys/smiley3.gif

What am i going to need to buy to sort it out? More importantly can i still drive it smileys/smiley5.gif

not to sure mate. only thing i can sugest is either phonin ur local garage or it could be just a bolt and that would be all that needs replacin.have u tried gettin ur head in the wheel arch and seeing wat the bold joins onto,

dunno if thats any help at all. (probably not)

this happened to me when I did my strut brace.. you will need a strut top mount bolt, and my mechanic could only get it from Citroens.
Was about £8.

As for driving the car, well .. you can , but very carefully, just no real heavy braking and cornering. but get it sorted asap!

Yes, youve snapped one of the top mount fixing bolts... These should not be tightened too tight as they are only there as light fixings and for alignment.

I replaced mine a while ago... I think theyre about £17 from Citroen.

You have to take the strut apart to replace it though.

when tightening aswell, do them up gradually a little bit at a time. Not tight one then onto next one. Just do little bits at a time on each. And I think the torque setting for these is 20nm

thats so f***ing weird!

the same thing has happened to me today! Im borrowing a camera to prove it!!

Been having this knocking myself and i spent an hour tightening those 16mm nuts in the footwell, no luck.

popped the bonnet and the same happened to me, it felt loose so i tightened it and snap!

I then checked the big bolt in the middle of the strut and it was loose! So loose i got about 10 turns to tighten it up!

problem solved now. no knocking, but ive got the snapped bolt, a mechanic near us said dont worry too much about it but replace it when i get my shocks in a few weeks.

not sure
