mine is cack if put in 5pound(close enough to a gallon) it will last about 15-20miles (town driving), i havent been driving for a year but im sure that the prices havent gone up that much, im sure i used to do about 40miles to 5quid petrol(close enough to a gallon).

my corsa 2.0 16v used to do about 50miles to a fiver, im thinking 8v aren't as efficient as 16v's

should i be looking to see if my car is overfuelling or leaking?

what do you do to the gallon?

also if a mod see's this i'm having problems posting, the board is only letting me post when it feels like, lol couldnt post in any other forums apart this one and test forum.

Smiith id think that it would better on fuel in fourth than fifth as the engine is under more stress, but meh that shows you how much I know (well don't know lol).

best fuel consumption is 56 in 5th... fact. lol and i have never ever ever only put a fiver in my tank, i fill it or half way.. i get 140 miles ish to 20 quid,. 250 ish to full tank

18th February 2008, 00:26
i used to fill my 1.1 and would go 2 full days on it but thats about 3-400 miles

the time will come when you have to put a fiver in. :)

just looking through all my petrol receipts for 2005- 2006 tax year and its astonishing, 5200quid but i get 40%(i think) of that back in tax relief, damn government grinds my gears!!!

my vtr was uber on fuel. 472 to a tank was the record and very very rarely did it do below 400 to a tank regardless of how it was driven.

Then again it was extremely well looked after

ive got 180-190mile aprox on under half a tank or more or less £20 but that was back in summer when fuel prices were a tad bit cheaper :y:

Well put it like this.......

I fill up from empty (35ish quid) and get home (261 miles) on under 2/3 of a tank @ 80mph.

That's damn good tbh.

If your only getting 250miles to a full tank doing 56mph all the time then its obviously not the speed for best fuel comsumption.
I (before it kinda died) used to drive my VTR pretty hard around town and to and from work and would regularly get 350 to 400 miles to a full tank.

is that AMAZING ON FUEL OR SOMETHING? surely the 2.0 reptop is about VTS mpg if not worse, and i had a car on same mpg as a VTs and from 10litres fuel your lucky to get 45-75, so 50miles from 5£ is amazing if that was true and it did 50miles from 5litres of petrol shame you sold lad

as for the vtr should easily get 350+ unless its fked or driven like a noob in 2nd gear around town... from constant motorway drives and daily short cold journeys my 98reg vtr would get 360-440 from a full tank and that was never driven like a learner.

My VTR is raping me on fuel, with the whopping great hole in the exhaust and all.

I'm not sure what mine does on a fiver, but it's higher than 20 miles! Mine is quite good on fuel tbh, better than the old vitara! So i still count myself lucky...

think some people are putting THAT little amount in they dont correctly know when they are at the same level... ie if your light comes on so i you think oooo ill go put £5 in,,, drive 40miles then the light comes on again think oh that means i got 40miles from £5, it DOESNT, the lights are about a good a way of checking mpg as reliability on the saxo. only way you can know is by filling a full tank then topping up and working out by much you had to top up by.

Scattle

I get 380 miles to a tank on the 1.6 8v.

mines doing about 90-100 miles for £10 i think. its pretty good, im impressed really. my last 2 cars were 1.4 16v modern engines and they mustered up about 70-80 miles for £10.

they are pretty good on mpg as they are so light they aint hauling around any weight. overall the vtr for me was nearly on par with my mondeo td as the mondeo is crap for short journeys, but then again i did try to keep the sax at a constant speed on the motorway but it wasnt much fun driving the sax on the motorway

A full tank costs you £35? I put a full tank in mine at the beginning of the month and it cost me £50. It's looking to get 350 miles out of the tank which is 34 mpg. I used to get about 40 mpg but I do a 12 mile daily commute in mostly traffic with no motorway driving everyday now so it's killed my fuel consumption

David

I'm on 43 mpg, on average...
