Hey dudes,
What options are there for bigger rear brakes, preferably something with minimal modifications required.
I was thinking like the brakes from one of the bigger cit/pug cars, the 406 say. Would their handbrake system etc work with the Saxo's nicely and what about the calipers etc, bolt in the same holes or need a little extension piece in between?
:)

Spend your money on better fronts as they do most of the braking effort!

Got 4pot brembos on the front just looking for something to make the back look beefier.
Its more looks i'm going for than actually requiring better rear brakes

No, i doubt very much you can tbh.
On ssc there was a picture of a saxo with a rear Hispec big disc conversion, looked mental !! Might be worth a phone call to Hispec to see what they do and the prices !

id think this would be fairly un-necessary, surely bigger brakes on the back would just lck the back up none stop and possibly cause the car to spin.
just my thoughs as i really hink this is a bit over kill, and if its just the look your going for get them brembo brake covers off ebay, dont know if there any good or just crap, probs are.
just my thoughts, fell free to correct me

they wont lock up :s because the brakes will still be the same percentage, thinks its 80% braking to front 20 to back??
so bigger brakes on the back will still only do 20% of the stopping, and not lock up

A lot of the race guys use smaller rear brakes from the xantia. But they have no hand brake on them. Also the pugsport AP two pots are used a lot but there no bigger and again have no hand brake. No real need to go any bigger.

afraid not dude.
you have a brake bias which is weighted towards the front, this weighting reduces if the rear has more load on it - i.e. it sits lower. So when a saxo is lowered, if the brake bias hasnt been adjusted then you've got a shit riding and shit braking saxo. :)
The saxo was setup at the factory to provoke the front locking first (understeer - safer). A larger disc will increase the deceleration rate for a given brake line pressure over a smaller disc... therefore you start to tend the brake distribution rearwards which could potentially lock the rear, which means that they'll do more than the '20%' stopping you suggested man, (regardless of brake bias)
Interestingly. whack on bigger wheels and you'll reduce the effectiveness of the brakes.
