My missus basically wants to sell her personalised number plate. It was brought
from DVLA for £500 a few years ago and hasnt been fitted.
We've both tried to sell it using the online number plate sights with no luck.
I was wondering where else would be a good place to put it, I was thinking
to slap it on Ebay to see what interest it gets.
The plate reads YE55 HAN, which reads Yes Shan (shantel).
Probably we have is that it wont go on a car lower than a 55 plate.
Any advise is morrrre than welcome.

lol its quite unique mate, this could be a problem in selling it - as i wouldnt have shan's name on my number plate because my name is dez.
Just wack it on ebay and see what happens

LOL cheers I think!
Worth a try I guess eh. Even if we sold it for £500 that would be worth it.

personally i think private plates will be hard to sell. i would try selling it to a company that sells them. i contacted one company about a private plate for ma mate who was selling his. they said the plate was worth 900quid. they would advertise it and if it sells they would give him 500quid for it.

if it sells they would give him 500quid for it.
IF is the key word there, if only they bought them off you, then its up to them to sell it.

Cheers for the advise guys, its currently on retention. Never fitted to the car.
I wouldnt mind hanging onto the plate for some time but tbh its just sitting
there and has been for 2 years now.
Its one of them things, kinda annoying now.

Definately get it listed onto ebay mate!
I had this with my private registration plate, first time round it never sold and I relisted it and had loads of interest in a few days. Mine read R19HY D
For example first name Richard and surname beginning with D, but there were plenty of people watching it.
In the end someone bought it, he gave me his tel. number so gave him a bell and got the number plate sent off on the retention ceritificate.
Heres the listing for my auction if you want to get an idea for selling it.
Hope it goes ok getting rid.

Try regtransfers.com, they send you a free valuation when you fill out a small form online, my private reg T55 CLA was bought at xmas for £300 including the transfer fee, i got a valuation saying they will advertise it on their site for £1100

Advertise it on as many reg no websites as you can.
We currently have one on regtransfers.co.uk but they have overpriced it so it's still for sale.
Problem is there are so many variants for specific words that if you can make, for example Shan form one plate at £500 and one at £250 the chances are the cheaper one will sell quicker.
We saw loads of plates for the VX220 at about £1000+ and in the end I used a bit of imagination and bought T2O VX, which sort of read 220 VX at £200 + VAT and transfer
It's all about the money my good friend. Good luck

Im assuming you have paid the £25 to extend your entitlement to the plate for each 12 month period?
If theres no plan to put it on your car theres no reason to keep it as it will just keep costing you more but wont necessarily increase in value.
Whack it ebay or loads of the regtransfer type sites and get rid asap
