its no different to using a lathe to be honest although thats proper equipment its still as dangerous! obviously i wouldnt recommend using a car to spin the wheel but providing ur confident in what your doing and know what your doing i dont see the problem, definatley not somthing your average joe should b doing tho.

bth easy idea and safe, all he would have needed to do was make a few lil changes ie instead of holding 2mm thick sanding paper in his hand against the rim, wrap that around 4x4 wood then do it that way ect ect,
