can 1 car be insured under 2 seperate policys?

hi im just wondering..... say if my g.frend sells her car and she needs 1 to use so she uses mine but would it be possible for her to insure my car under her policy whilst im insured on it through my own policy

possibly but she still has 2 month left on her insurance and would be paying it for nothing so maybe if she could add my car onto her policy then i woudnt have to pay extra to add her onto mine

I would say its not possible as if you crash there's nothing to say you wont try to claim through both companies

No but you can put her on to your insurance as a second driver and that will let her drive your car , it will just raise our insurance price up a little .

It is not illegal to have two insurance policies for two cars. However as has already be touched upon, it is highly unadvised for the simple reason that neither insurance company will declare themselves liable to indemnify you. Therefore, it is highly unlike either company will pay out for your (or 3rd parties) losses if you have two policies. I'd do my best to avoid it mate.

you should be able to, because your insurance policy is for you, hers would be for her so cant see why there would be a problem having two policys as its simple, if she crashed when driving it would go through her policy as its her policy thats being used while she is driving and if you crash would go through yours as its your policy thats being used when your driving it
