Right Guys and girls,

Basically I'm in major need of a job and am finding it impossible to find anything! I've applied for endless jobs and I either don't hear anything or I get a letter/e-mail saying I wasn't succesful.

I've applied for retail jobs, admin, reception, estate agents, call centres etc. So a variety but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

Now as of late this is really getting me down, So if anyone has got any hints or tips or decent websites I can view please help me before I go insane!

I've tried
Monster.com
Jobcentreplus.com
Retailchoices.com
aviationjobsearch.com
Adecco.com
Kellyservices.com
fish4.com
brightonjobs.com...the list goes on.

Also handed out CV's in town.

Many thanks, Hannah

I want to work at Gatwick, but unless I'm a Pilot they don't have any vacancies. Quite tempted to go for Cabin Crew but everyone I know that did it left after 6 months. Ohhh I'm confused.com lol

If you're tempted by Cabin Crew then go for it, just because other folk have left after 6 months just means it isn't for them, but it may suit you down to the ground :)

I know I keep thinking about doing it. It's just the hours are pretty messed up. I'd have no social life lol.

I trained as Cabin Crew at college so could easily get a job. I just keep having second thoughts about it. :err:

But at the moment I'm guessing you have too much social life because you're not working? lol.

You would be as well to go and get a job in it anyway, see what its like. If you hate it then just leave and try getting other jobs again!

Hannah

Right, I'm currently applying for Cabin Crew job, just need to sort out getting my passport details as I've not got my passport at this house. Grr.

I've got 3 distinctions in Cabin Crew Prep Course, so hopefully will get the job. It's with XL airways which has been voted the best airline 4 times. So pretty good I'm guessing. I'll keep you all posted with the updates! :d

And yeah, I do have a busy social life at the mo. I'm out everyday lol. Hopefully it won't affect it too much. lol.

no good sitting in on the internet applying, trust me

actually go out to the agencys cause unless you have a shit hot cv (and lets be honest, you havent at the min) you wont get a response other than an autimated email

ive been where you are now and trust me you need to break the habit of just applying online and handing out cvs

how many agencys are in brighton? hundreds. if you visit 2 tomorrow you WILL have a temp placement by the end of the week

Couldn't be arsed to read the whole thread.

Speak to a recruitment agency that deals with jobs that you are qualified/experienced to do. I got agency work within a week of enrolling with an agency, and a recruitment guy got me my current job as such, had an interview with him then with the company, started a week later.

whats that harm in trying it? might aswel go for it at least that way you can look back and say you did it and it did/didnt work out. Nothing to lose really.
Just keep going into loads of recruitment agencies, it can be annoying and depressing when you cant get a job but something will come along soon:y:

Edit: there is no harm on telling a few porkies on your CV - as long as you make it believable then you will be fine.

Embelish ftw

Hope the new CV is alreet Hannah ;)

Definately going to agencies and taking it from there is the way to go as online applications and ads dont show alot of detail even important stuff such as where the application is for :fcuk:

Good luck :)

Can I just ask what type of work you are looking for across all these sites and agencies? Is it a range of things or just cabin crew?

I'm afraid when you don't have a job you can't be picky

Look at my situation last year. I was made redundant from MFI and transferred straight over to DHL for a warehouse job. I was in fact promised an office job but it didn't happen and I ended up in the warehouse. I then found the Clerical Manager and she jumped at the chance of taking me in to an office job when I explained my previous experience.

I'm afraid you have to start at the bottom of the ladder to get to where you want to go. You'd be extremely lucky if you jumped on the ladder half way up straight away.

Not looking at anything in particular just typing 20miles of Brighton. I was only looking at Cabin Crew as it's the one job I'm almost garunteed to get. I'm not trying to start halfway up the ladder...I'm looking for a job in anything. Just all the ones I apply for have a high income of applications. I said in my first post about where I'd applied for.

Total Jobs are pretty good, have loads of really interesting companies like McLaren Racing and football clubs posting their vacancies on there. Alternatively, Office Angels are also quite good.
