16" mate.
17" require a bit of work to fit. Do a search and it will tell you how to do all the nessesary arch modifications

hmmm, I was thinking the same. I have the impression that 16s look bigger in real life than in pictures. is this right?? 17s look real good in pics. Is there any problems related fitting 16s? will I need spacers I have seen many talk about? (dont`t know what spacers means, am from Norway)

Ive got 16's and they fill the arches nicely. And im lowered 35mm.
Aslong as you go for 40 profile tyres (195/40/16) instead of a 45 profile, you wont get any rubbing with them.
If you have 45 profile, as I have, you will require slight arch work for these to fit.
A spacer is a circle metal disc, which effectively 'spaces' out the wheel to further away from the wheel hub mounting and inner arch. Therefore a spacer helps reduce the chances of the tyre rubbing on the inside of the arch.

i had the same problem, should i go for 16's or 17's, in the end i went for 16's, so much easier, less work, when straight on, just have to trim the inner arch guard as i have 45's on it, so i am a 16's man all the way

16's for speed and control
17's for style.

I faced the same problem a little while ago mate, but at the end of the day in my opinion, unless youre aiming for real speed or amazing handling, 17s win every time (not to say your car doesnt look sweet SaxoAl smileys/smiley17.gif )
I saved for 2 months, got the 17s, and have now been saving for 3 months to get enough cash to get the mods done for them and get it lowered (im only a student ok!!) which is gonna cost £475 incl springs and all fitting.
Finally have enough and the car is going in the bodyshop tomorrow night, and i think its gonna be worth every minute ive waited, and every penny ive spent!!
But at the end of the day, its all about what your after i guess

i've got 16s with 45 tyres and don't regret it one bit cos when it comes to replacing 40 tyres you'll be wishing you'd 45's in the 1s place. All you need to do is take off rear bumper which is about 8 screws and grind the bumper brackets back.
