I have read my online bank statement today and also noticed that they are charging me £55.

This charge has occured because a direct debit went out of my account leaving my account with - 2.00 in therefore thewy have charged me 5 pound everyday for being overdrawn without an overdraft, it would of been easier if they have cancelled my overdraft for insufficient funds or something,

Is there any way out of this charge it is due to go out of my account 4th march??

As I am with alliance and leicster and had a young savers accoutn which always allowed to overdraw 10 quid over with no charge whatsoever I have only just set up this adults current account as I have not been 18 that long and didnt know the consequences although I am sure it would of been in the massive bundle of papers they sent me when switching.

Just does my head in how they can charge that much but people who have overdrafts and exceed get charged 50p per day instead of 5 pound per day.

Anybody know if I could atleast try and deny it?

you do know it costs them roughly £3 to process your overdraft amount

go to the bank and complain.. you can get your money back nowadays

Phone them up, tell them they are profiting from you by making this charge when they could have simply returned the DD with a £30-£39 penalty and politely ask if they will reverse the charges.

Assuming you're not regularly in the red you should be ok

Oh, sorry, I thought you wanted the Loan Arranger.

Anyway, short of asking the branch to rescind the charge, they currently have you over a barrel. The OFT case into excess bank charges is not yet ready to report, and you DID sign an agreement where you accepted the terms and conditions of the account.

Go to the branch, (have £55 in your pocket.) Ask to have the charges rescinded, if not then hand over the £55 and demand they close your account there and then. Many banks will try to keep young people, they want the future mortgage and loan business.

Hi Ho Silver, away...
