Would i be absolutly off my tree to accept this car as a px for my coupe
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270215829916&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123
Now before you go telling me in a homo and im a girl and all the rest - I KNOW this is stereotyped a a girls car
BUT.....
Coupe 51 plate vs Sportka 04 plate
Coupe Insurance group 15 vs Sportka Insurance group 6
Coupe average 23mpg vs Sportka average 37mpg
Coupe 58k Miles vs Sportka 25k Miles
Tax will be cheaper aswell
Reliability will be there with the teapot, the coupe is VERY comfortable however
I paid £3,600 for my Coupe (Which was deal of the century) and this bloke is offering his Sportka + cash in my direction
With the money he added i could lower it and stick some decent wheels on
Am i insane to consider it?
josh1989
29th February 2008, 10:39
tbh you could get a much better; looking, performing, less gay car, for the same money and it be just as sensible, get a focus diesel or something
yes you are insane :)
Robb
29th February 2008, 10:39
Yes Very.
Why not exchange then buy a better car with the money you made homes?
Scattle
29th February 2008, 10:41
Please dont. Coupe ftw.
Jackman
29th February 2008, 10:42
I don't think your insane.
I think its a deal.

Thats only because you have a fetish for men who drive 8v cars Jack!!

Get the Sportka!! woo
Tupps
29th February 2008, 10:46
I can already tell Tupps reeeeeeeeally wants it.
It's all about the dolla
Meaning, monthly outgoings and the fact that i only paid £3600 for mine and i feel i would be ripping his eyes out as he handed me his car AND cash
Kinda turns me on
josh1989
29th February 2008, 10:49
i think someone has lead piped tupps round the head tbh
Dan
29th February 2008, 10:50
Cant beleive your even thinking about it mate
Chris
29th February 2008, 10:50
Sounds a pretty good deal Mate... you could exchange, then put the Ka up for sale at a profit and then get something you really want........... use the Ka as a gap filler!!
Chris :)

Tupps
29th February 2008, 10:52
I'm also thinking that josh!
I absolutly love driving the coupe, i can afford to run it, i can afford to aimlessly drive about where ever
But i'm just thinking about value / reliability and what not
Edit - Chris and Jackman are on the same astral plane as me, i'd probably keep it till my renewal ran out which is June
Or do i just ignore the whole thing and keep my coupe till then and HOPE i get decent money for it when i come to sell it
josh1989

well before you go ahead with the Ka have a look for other much nicer, better handling etc cars for the sime price but with the same sensiblities mpg etc, you may end up with a car you're not embarrsed with because let's face it looks are a rather important factor
Tupps
29th February 2008, 10:58
I need somebody to e-punch me in the face and tell me not to do it tbh!
Something tells me it's the right thing to do but deep down i really know i should keep the coupe
Maybe a work colleague has drugged my coffee?
josh1989
29th February 2008, 10:59

I'm gonna speak to the bloke and find out the exact deal he's wanting....
Chris
29th February 2008, 11:13
Why you selling the Coupe if you can afford to run it and love driving it soo much??
Chris :)
Tupps

Why you selling the Coupe if you can afford to run it and love driving it soo much??
Chris :)
It's always a bonus to have a little extra cash
And i'd be benefitting from a car thats 3 year newer, alot less miles, less insurance, less mpg..... and COULD be a decent looking car with a few alterations?
I drive less than 2 mile to get to work and when i do use the car it's not as if im using the performance of the coupe to the max, but still paying silly mpg - Yes i can afford it.... but why should i
Think i'm turning homo tbh!

I totally agree with all of that!! We could afford to keep the coupe, but in the long run we could spend the money that we are forking out on that on something else..... home things, holidays, going out etc etc.

Drive about in a 23-24mpg car
Drive about in a newer 37mpg car and stick an extra £150 a month away....
A) Have a quick sexual looking car and grin and bear the costs, and have the worries of needing to replace a turbo etc
B) Newer by far more economical car and extra £150 a month in my back burner
I don't think im arsed about quick cars right now (till i go to asda at dinner and fall in love with the coupe)
Sucks to be me
leeroybrown
29th February 2008, 11:25
might as well add my bit, seen as according to some "Members" all i do is diss members selection of what car they are going to get
Well its shit lets be honest, total womans car. Its a ford fiesta designed for simple woman. Tupps can you really see yourself drivng one let alone owning one.
Evener more gayer then a MG
PMSL in all honestly the sport ka thing was the best model out of the range, with nicer bumpers and alloys, and i love the purple colour as well
Defo not for you

That's pretty much how I'm looking at things at the mo... except we're going for a Diesel so we get near on 50mpg, cheaper insurance and only £115 a year tax.
The speed thing is a bit of an issue, but Diesels can be remapped easily which gives you a fair few more horses!!

Thanks leeroy... I'm no speed freak, i like to know i could afford to fix it should the whole thing go pop (which i couldn't with the turbo) and i'd like a little extra cash laid about - even if it means turning slightly female
Quick - It's either a 2 minute drive or a 15 minute walk, i'd rather spend the extra 15 minutes in bed
Chris - I'm starting to think in 3 month time when the Sportka will have about 30k mile will it be as easy to sell as the coupe and what will it be worth? Apparently its flawless so shoudl shift pretty easy? Easier than a modified Coupe turbo maybe?
Chris

Should be pretty easy I'd imagine.... the summer is when most people try and pass thier driving test etc, so parents will be on the look for a new car to spoil their little princess's with!!!!

at the end of the day it comes down to to simple choices
1. keep a car that looks good but cost you more a month
2. drive a newer car that doesnt look as good and could make you look :homme: but saves you about £150 and you will only have it for 3/4 months
id go with option 2 if it was me
saxowebby
29th February 2008, 11:47
id do the deal, sell the ka buy another coupe, and have some money left aswell

It's strange, it nearly looks manly! The colour helps alot.
I say go for it! It looks OK tbh, not too girly.
End of the day.. if you keep it for 3/4 months you're likely going to be on a profit, and then in a better place than if you kept the coupe. Plus the bonus of whatever you get next will feel even better than just going from the coupe!

all stereotypes apart if you think your on for a better deal and at making money then go for it, end of the day its just a car and your lookign to sell up at the moment anyway
like chris said use it as a step for a few months

Danr
29th February 2008, 13:34
If there's money to be made definately do it! You may have to drive around in a slower car etc. but as you said you'd be saving money by driving it and also make money when you sell it. Then you can afford a better car than the coupe.
Imo there's no question to be asked. Username change to KaTupps

Most new Fords have heated front windscreen.... Ford invented it, then copyrighted it, so no other car company can do it.

Not as bad as people say tbh. Driven one a while back, and tbh they have a nicer gearbox, better cabin and more toys than my sax. Handle very nicely, good on fuel and nippy... even Evo magazine gave it a good review.

Mrk1
2nd March 2008, 22:31
Even if you feel like your testicles have crept up inside your stomach everytime you drive it, it could always be swapped. It looks a very tidy example and despite it being a hairdressers car it would be better than sitting on the coupe and waiting for it to depriciate.
Gay Car + Cash = Sell gay car buy better smiles all around
Sit on the coupe for a while and go through the selling process again?
Up to you but i would pinch a deal right there and then.

Here's the latest swap i've been offered
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/405439.htm
The bloke originally wanted my car and £500 in his favour, i've managed to wangle him down to a straight swap - Book price on the gti180 is £5,600, looks a MINT example aswell
Looks like i may be caling in to see some of you Yorkshire boys

It's not that i want rid, just some deals are too good to refuse
I'd also get rid of the turbo worries, STUPID fuel costs and i'd end up with a 53 plate low miled gti 180 that i'd paid £3,500 for

Only joking.
Are the seats etc not optional extras?
Tupps
7th March 2008, 13:11
Here's his reply to my email
Your right about the seats and the wheels, the previous owner changed them to cash in on them, but has put the half leather ones in anyway which are more comfortable.
The 180 came out in 2003.
I’ve done a full HPI check on the car and have spoken to Peugeot to confirm this is a genuine 180 GTI UK Car. Check the number plate online and this will prove it. You can also contact the DVLA to check as that is what I did.
I went through all this when I bought it mate, and basically, the previous owner decided to take out the seats, sell the alloys and put an aftermarket exhaust on.

Hey no need to contact me im here,
That car belongs to someone on 206info,
He bought it and didnt know whever it was a 180 or GTI
It seems we came to the conclusion that the previous owner cashed in on all of the 180 components.
It is a genuine 180.
Unsure of its history though so id do a check on it if i were you,
I personally cant see why someone would cash in on all the 180 parts that make the 180 different from the normal GTI jobby.
Still a very nice car and quite quick as standard. Remap and they completely change.
Just buy some interior and alloys off ebay and your away it also needs a standard 180 backbox
Any questions im here :)

Confirmed it is a genuine 180....
Would a straight swap be a good deal even without the 180 seats and wheels?
Bearing in mind it's a 53 plate and only has 30k miles?
I'll also do a bit of research on MikeyB :)

Jamie
7th March 2008, 14:07
Yep 4k
Try your luck with cash your way but dont be disapointed if you get rejected lol as although he only paid 4k its still worth more, he probably got a deal as the owner had already cashed in on the bits that would bump the price up
It would be a good deal imo but only because of what the car actually is, if it had a 138 in it id forget it.
It will still be a very nice car, just without the bits and bobs that distinguish the two models apart.
Debadge it and suprise some people lol

Wheels will cost you £300 – £500 and you could sell the ones at £400.
I don't know what to do

Im not trying to start a 206 GTI 180 vs Clio Sport war.
Was just trying to get Tupps to steer away from a somewhat "shifty" 180.
Jamie
7th March 2008, 15:35
Eye thats fair enough i took it the wrong way. Ive been in a strop for the last couple of days so just ignore me.
It does seem shifty.
But who knows maybe it will be ligit...
Tupps
7th March 2008, 15:36
Thinking about it
The sale'ability of that 180 isn't the best, anybody who's after a gti 180 actually wants a gti 180.... not a 180 with 138 interior etc
Questions will always be asked about tha car tbh!
Karl
7th March 2008, 15:38
Exactly what I mean,
you're only in it for the dollar for that 206,
and your dollar will be cut when the cars a lesser spec than standard. :D

Not unless you get the bits sorted.. could still be quids in.
say you get the exchange and its ligit..
Sell of the bog standard gti stuff and swap for the 180 parts..

I don't mind keeping the coupe for a while :)
172 would be an option though mate

what would be the point?
more weight to start with etc.
.....what you want is a Cup, and just put Trophy recaros in it.
done deal.
Tupps, expect no more than £250.
you prob wont find any 172 cup turini's about, will have to buy aftermarket ones.
