Not that long ago, Untouchable Cruisers copyrighted the internet and threatened all sorts of legal ramifications if their logo was "stolen", in fact, looking on their site they even warn about it.

Now I like the bit about "prior consent", sounds nice really doesn't it, and if anyone ever wanted any of my content, all they have to do is ask. In fact, on one of my sites, I have a large collection of images, all freely downloadable - something like 500 hits a day, and all for free - just because people are kind enough to ask beforehand.
Imagine my disquiet when going through my useage logs for one of my sites, I saw that a graphic was being leeched.

I checked through all my emails, not a single request.
So I tried to register with the site, funnily enough, despite registering, I still can't get on. One pm later - thanks for the log in :D , I managed to get access to this veritable cornucopia of automotive wonderment.
I found out that someone was using one of my .gifs as an avatar.
Step forward Ash GTI, just a little note would have been nice.

Pity that I did a little editing of the images on my site.

It's not the bandwidth, I couldn't care less about that - remember this?

Any way, he noticed...

All that I wanted was the common decency of a request.
So, was I a twat for doing it, after all, I pay the hosting fees, so it's my pocket he's dipping into, or should I just think that everyone does it and let it ride? I don't do it from non-commercial sites, and do try to get prior permission. http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/engel/a025.gif
(Actually he did apologise after, but I still thought it was piss funny.)
