My drivers side door on my car just won't stay open by itself!! It's so annoying.. Just keeps swinging closed.. trapping my fingers or smacking my back :wall:
Does anyone know any easy fix??
Cheers

Is the "check strap" damaged or worn out? That is the thing that clicks out when you open the door fully. They have a partial open setting that should also hold the door 1/2 open.
Mine fell to bits and was a pain in da-ass replace. To do it properly you have to strip the door empty - taking the elec window mech and everything out the door! I did manage to wrestle a replacement in from the outisde - with some hack-sawing and hammering!
+Not much to purchase which is the only good thing.
Good luck! :o

tighten the two bolts on the arm connecting the door to the car.. if its loose then its not catching the clip which keeps door open!
hope it helps :y:

By "outside" I mean the outside surface of the inner door (armpit where it closes) - not through the outer skin of the door like a neanderthal! :)

That be it Alex. Maybe fell to bits inside the door like mine had? Sure it didn't cost much but was a bleeding knuckles style, pain to fit.
Yo Pred - you got access to Citroen's computer based parts catalogue thing? Is it called "Viper" or something?

Hi,
Just dug out the receipt - £17 from Citroen a year or so back. Ref your question for fitting it = the two studs you can see in Predators image poke out from inside the door and have two nuts that hold it to door body. These are the nuts/studs that people mention to try tighten up if the thing is making a bang or crack noise - try loctite to hold nuts on?
If yours has disappeared could be it is all flapping around inside the door, or it fell to bits like mine had.
Good luck with that Alex / Handlez!
ps - realised when I replaced mine that the hinges on saxos are fixed position and you can't adjust how the door fits/closes?!

You mean the nuts holding the two bolts through the door skin or the two bolts retaining on the pillar? Have you rounded them off? It shouldn't be so hard to get them undone. Aren't they just a torx bolt and 10mm socket fitment?
Don't know what to suggest. I have horrible memories of doing mine and having to extend the aperture in the door to feed it all through.....
Was a couple of days back now, how have you got on?
