hello all (hope everyone is ok)

well i just got back from my local supermarket, (went to get some stuff for mothers day) and as i came out i saw a RED VTR saxo sitting in the carpark, and as many will prob know i want either a 1.4 furio or a 1.6 VTR as my first car, this VTR was very clean and was lightly modded in a good way.(not a chav way). my farther was with me and we was talking about my first car, i then said.

ME: why cant i get one of these dad?
DAD: yeah sure that looks a nice tidy car, why not?
ME: happy as....
DAD: (walks around car)

HE THEN SAID

DAD: not a VTR you dont.
ME: Gutted

so that sort of decided it for me, a 1.4 Furio is it :A:

yeah they are not miles apart but would of been nice, and it is prob better to get a 1.4 as a first car :) it did make me laugh tho, he was like "yeah sure why not ill buy you one now" but then he saw the VTR bit :p

Better option mate, VTRs arent worth the extra insurance premium for the first year. Its usually about 500-700 more.

For some reason in the second year its only about 50 quid more for a VTR which is really annoying lol

yeah, cheers for the info mate :) i will prob get a VTR after 18 months of the Furio so good to know cheers.

Only thing a furio misses out on that pisses me off is rear drums instead of disks. They look shite.

yeah but you need an entire VTR axle for about 200 dollar, then theres the hassle of fitting it

Mugello
1st March 2008, 18:47
oh i see not easy or cheap then :(

SaxoJamie
1st March 2008, 18:48
furio's are good first cars:y: I wish I had paid the extra £200 on insurance last year just to have one.

TU-Tuning
1st March 2008, 18:48
Nay, its one of those things that seems a doddle till you think how much hassle it is cus the car will be off the road

yeah, also the Furio and VTR is 0.2 of a litre different but the furio is 75BHP and the VTR 90-98BHP that annoys me too, they must have more restricted engines in the furio? is it easy to get a Furio to about 90-98BHP without cams or remap?

TU-Tuning
1st March 2008, 18:56
The 1.4 in the furio is stupdily restricted mate yeah, bearing in mind that peugeot/citroen made a 1.3 with 100 brake. The throttle bodys shit, the cams are shit, the induction systems shit its even got a restrictor off a 1.1. But the VTR is the same in those respects aswell

Theyre still great cars and the engines fun and theyre great first cars but they could have been so much better

a decent manifold, exhaust and induction kit would get you close maybe 85 BHP. All depends on how much you would want to spend on tuning it:y:

the furios are fair nippy as it is, u might aswell keep it standard, save the money and then use it to pay for a vtr in 12months or whatever you want then

I wish i could have had a furio as a first car, you should feel privileged to be getting one. I had a deathtrap 954cc AX.

Mugello

i see, well i would have a big of cash for it :)

i would get , induction kit, manifold, full exhaust kit with decat. and hope for the best.

after the induction kit and exhaust kit what else could be done to add BHP???

i see people talking about throttle bodies and polishing certain parts like port polish, any more information on this? what is it about? changing part of cleaning old parts?

and any other mods to add BHP?

Yeah its not really worth it mate the engines not particularly well designed for power and so isnt very tuneable.

They are still good fun though, take it down twisty backroads and you wont feel like you need more power atall. Its only when your going straight down long roads it shows theyre small engines

mines tpft, im 20. 0ncd

atomicadam
1st March 2008, 19:10
but seriopusly mate i lookd into making some subtle mods on mine, n insurance companies rape 17 year olds for making mods, £85 added to premium for an open cone filter, £100 for vts alloys, £100 for colour coding
i dont think its worth it really if u planning on changing it soon

atomicadam

ahh ryt, 3 years age difference reduces premium by a fair bit n would you really want tpft on a vts?

LeeM
1st March 2008, 19:15
with the excess and increased premiums it doesnt make sense to claim anyway, not spendin loads on the car itsself either

Mugello
1st March 2008, 19:43
i see the mods are expensive on the insurance :( well i can wait :)
