yeh delete all your internet cookies, history n evrythin for a start, then get rid of all sharing folders n all that stuff, then run something like adaware just as a check that all viruses have gone, then repair messenger in the add/remove programs section. If that dont work try web messenger check that tha works:y:

could be anything tbh try the above.
What anti virus programs you use and what anti spyware programs you use?
Do you get any error codes? from msn that is?
Have you tried downloading and installing a previous version of msn?

Do you know the virus you have? would be helpful.
Is it the virus that sends a file to your contacts through msn sayign accept or decline etc..?
If youc an find the name of the virus, or the filename then i can help you out most probs :)
Also common thing is look through your receieved files and delete anything you haven't seen or heard of before! or that looks dodgy! That maybe the file virus that keeps coming up and showing each time u reinstall msn.
But theres a way of deleting it through msconfig, and regedit but you need to know what its called first :)
Thats if its the common virus im thinking of.

AVG is rubish it doesm't stop viruse's atall. I now use avast pro v7 no problems so far for 8 months of using avast

Hmm... not sure about rubbish, but i do use avast and i have not had any virus problems since installed begining of this year changing from norton.
But still it not the issue here. You could be using avast and still have same problem if you told avast/(other anti virus) to allow msn files to bypass through etc.

If your trying to delete a virus and the offending file is running then boot your pc up in safe mode, as it can normally be deleted this way:y:

can't remember off by heart but when u restart before login screen u shud see like DOS mode type boot up. press either F2, F5 or F8 its on of them (80%) sure
it'l take u to a diff menu screen and select safe mode when logged in find the file delete it then reboot.
you tried deleting the file when msn is totally closed down as that might be why its in use. or, internet programs..

its f8 and if you just delete it it will most prob come back about 2mins later. you need an anti virus to try and get rid of it. you may not be able to.
once its on the system its quite hard to get rid of them as they will just keep replicating themselves. sometimes the only way out is a format then use an av to protect yourself
you wont get rid of it just by deleting the file, do you know what the process is called?
try this might help as i had a msn virus too cos of these loons lol
