Was bored today, and had a spare VT* rear bumper laying round so decided to smooth off the exhaust recess and towing eye to smooth it a little. There were also holes along the bottom where a splitter was attached, so I filled them as well.
Heres pics of it so far.
In the beginning:

Lip cut off exhaust recess. Mesh was then bonded to the back of the cut out to make the shape and give some strength. Fibreglass was then laid over the mesh:

Towing eye glassed up:

Fibreglass built up in layers until flush with surrounding bumper:

Cheers craig. This won't be going on my car. Was just a little side project as I had a spare bumper that was no good for anything else lying round.
Will probably be up for sale if it turns out ok, along with a full set of smoothed vt arches and door panels
Going to rub it down today and filler it. Will post more pics up later when its done :y:

Cheers, but don't really like the look when the strip is smoothed in as well. Like to leave a bit of the original shape.

Finally got round to finishing this off today.
Rubbed all the fibreglasss back first:

I got it pretty smooth tbh, so only needed a little filler putting in over the fibreglass:

Good work Andy. Looks the nuts. I reckon you'll have a good chance of selling it if you primer it up first.

thats what ill be doing to the front and rear bumpers on mine, only problem with what youve done is it will crack, you would be better off plastic welding the holes up as you need to make it as one before p40`ing and final stoppering up etc.altho thats imo it comes from nearly ten years worth of experience ;-)

I agree plastic welding is probably a better option, but i have ground out the plastic surrounding the hole on both sides and overlapped the glass then overlapped the filler again so it should be pretty solid. I've also used the mesh to stop the glass from flexing. Hopefully it'll be ok. Done a few bits and pieces now and never had any problems, so fingers crossed.
