Modified or Performance insurers might be able to help you out
Try Adrian Flux or Quinn Direct i know alot of people on here would recommend both.

i went to the vauxhall garage and they wont let you test drive a VXR until you are 25 as they cant insure you

Well, £3000 of admiral means you can get insurance. Whether you can afford it is another question. Lower your sights just a little.

exactly Vidal, next model down is the SRI 1.6 turbo, basically a de-tuned VXR putting out 150bhp...
give that a try

Im same age with the same car fella, also have 2yrs ncb.

Try admiral, i got a quote for £1600 with my dad on my poilicy, as he also uses my car ;)

Dont use money supermarket, go direct to admiral if you can add your mum and dad to your policy the price will drop silly amounts, my dad saved me just over £1000 on my policy as i was getting quotes for around £2700.

hope this helps :y:

I'm with Endsleigh and they're pretty good - worth a try anyway!!

My sister has just managed to get insured with www.elephant.co.uk (http://www.elephant.co.uk) at 18 years old, 1 year's no claims on a 1995 2.0 Golf GTi for £900. She did that by putting my dad and her boyfriend (he's 26) on the insurance, which brought it down from about 2k.

Good luck with it all anyway!

I agree women get a better deal with insurance, but do try to get as many experienced drivers as possible on the policy as it will bring the price down loads. That's what I'll be doing once i've gathered the funds to finance a Civic Type R!

it means you get no NCB next year when you want to move insurers.

Anto just slow down a little seriously... can you not wait another year? £2k is a lot for insurance (I'd hope fully comp). never understood why people will blow £2k for a years insurance instead of waiting a year and find the quote is half.

means you only pay for 10 months insurance but still get 12 months no claims bonus, thats still a high price, but up to you end of the day, highest i paid was £1800 for my civic type r and that was when i was 20 with 2 years no claims

:) as much as i want to slow down its hard :P when a car like the VXR comes along its stunning

yes its fully comp ;), i faked a quote as if i was 21 with 3yr no claims, best was £1,400 :P

dad used to work for Vauxhall for 26 yrs, they've cut me a great deal.

Corsa VXR, Arden Blue, 18" Alloy Wheels, Light & Sight Pack and Cruise Control

£13,000

When you do quotes with named drivers make sure you do another quote with just one of them. Reason being my brothers just re-newed his insurance with esure I think it is and he did a quote with my Mum and Dad as named drivers was £1500 or something for a VTS then he took my dad off and just put my Mum and it was £900. Might have something to do with my Mum having boobs! lol But worth a try! :D

You'll get bummed by the insurance company, and you'll get bummed on the depreciation on a new car!!

Seriously, I would look back at the above quotes and look into something slower for a year or two. I made the same mistake as you not so long ago, I was punching above my weight and it's not wise at such a young age but I wised up before I purchased anything.

Look at something cheaper, maybe even a diesel - Because unless your going to take it around a track 600 times a year is it really worth forking out that kind of cash for what comes down to it, a run-a-round? :)

Plus have you thought about Tax? Servicing? Tyres? It's not just a price of the car and the insurance to think about!

Just my two pennies worth.
:)

Hi Danny,

points taken, getting the car for £13,000 is cheap as is so the depreciation doesnt bother me, as i play to keep it till its hit 70,000 miles at least.

Tax is slightly more than my furio which isnt much more. Servicing will be cheap, dad worked for the place selling me the car, and they'll do all the servicing at knock down costs, i know all the lads there too.

end of day, its a run-a-round :P but damn its one sexy beast of a car to be running around in.

think i'll wait till my next birthday tho, because there is nothing at all wrong with El Furio at the mo :D
