Hey everyone,
I’ve never really introduced myself on here properly, and I’ve been a member for a while! Anyway I’m Andy and I thought I may as well get a progress thread going as my sax has had quite a few changes since being bought in 06/2006. Ill start from the beginning gradually progressing to how it is now, hope you enjoy - comments welcome...
1. Saxo 1.4i Westy - Day 1
It all started back in June 2006 which was the month I passed my test!!!
I’ve always loved saxo's so first things first, I needed to get me hands on one! I'd been looking for a while to no avail, when suddenly I found something:
Citroen Saxo westcoast
1.4
43,300 miles
Silver
T reg
2 Owners
Mint condition
Totally Standard
I had to have a look! (at the time a westy was the best option mainly for insurance reasons), So I travelled 200+ miles to it and fingers crossed, to take it home!

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/Progress%20Thread/05.jpg
All was well with the car, I had a test drive and mainly looked out anything odd with the gears, clutch etc... I was well happy with it, also it was the first time I had driven a saxo and the handling was great.
After a bit of negotiating on the price of the car it was sold to me for £2100 with a fresh mot and 12 months tax - bargain considering most of the westys I had seen were £2200+ with 60-80k on the clock!

2. Small touches…
Nearly as soon as I had the car at home, it was crying out for some decent rims! so I hopped onto ebay to source some vtr alloys. It wasn’t long before I was the winning bidder on a set for £84.99
I also bought some silver mirror caps (which turned out to be icelandic grey but never mind lol) and new door badges, cant stand the westy ones!
As soon as they turned up I inspected them and two were in a real state! Nothing a refurb wouldn’t fix though, but I put them on anyway...
On they go!!

3. Sound upgrade!
I’d been driving for a month or two by now listening to the crappy sound produced by the stock speakers, so a sound upgrade was a must! I ended up buying:
Sony 2way 80w 13cm for the front
Sony 3way 360w 6x9s
Sony full graphics headunit
Sony 500w and 12” Xplode sub + box
I spent the day getting all this in making it as neat as possible. I started with the headunit then the front speakers which were quite easy (only annoying part was having to drill out the rivets from the old speaker fixings) these were done in no time… next was the amp wiring which took ages tbh! Worst part was wiring the live from the battery but the guide off here helped a lot! I the connected the sub and amp and lastly the 6x9s, I used the wiring from the rear quarter speaker to run these… Done!!

4. Let the modding begin…
After having lots of new ideas brewing for how I wanted the sax to look, I started to get the ball rolling on a few things. Firstly I was a bit bored of the vtr rims and as my bday was fast approaching I decided to treat myself to some new wheels.
I had looked about for ages on a style and I decided on a 5 spoke design preferably in 16” or 17”…
In the end I decided on 16” OZ hydra’s:
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/Progress%20Thread/hydra_big.jpg
These arrived with 195/40/16 Toyo proxes – very nice! And these were soon fitted:
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/Progress%20Thread/Image000.jpg
Sorry for the rubbish pic – it’s the only one I had
I had these on for a while but I soon got rid of them as I wanted a change, I ended up putting the vtr rims back on.
Next on the idea list was tints – I got these done by shadez tints in essex, highly recommend these guys! £125 for all 5 windows, I went for a mid smoke on the front and dark smoked on the rears and back…

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/DSCN3630-1.jpg
Next was LOWERING!!! :drink:
I decided on a 40mm drop with the spax springs and torsion bar set to match:

Cheers for all the comments guys!
I haven’t updated this in a while now and seeing as I’ve got an "S" now its time to bring the westy story up to date!
5. New wheels and lights
Having roughly settled on how I wanted the sax to look, I began making a few big changes.
Angel eyes were a must upgrade for the front, and seeing as mk1 headlights were beginning to look a tad dated, these lights gave the car a much fresher look! I also got a silver meshed grill of eBay for £20!
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/DSC01472.jpg
The angels were then coupled with some lovely lexus lights....only joking! I went one step further and got some l.e.d's! I thought they were well cool at the time!
By now I was slightly bored of the vtr wheels again and having already changed them for 16" oz previously, I decided to go for 17" which I know isn’t to everyone’s taste (it was a reputable decision at the time!)
The wheels I had my sights set on were BSA 291's. I knew they were going to cause rubbing problems etc but I got them anyway to trial fit.
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/DSC01481.jpg
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/DSC01487.jpg
As I thought they rubbed, so off to r-tec I went to get my arches modded, when I got it back at the end of the day I was really happy with the way it looked and also the worked they carried out to mod them by retaining the inner arch liners :)

6. Dimma anyone?
Now it was obvious that my sax needed something else to tie in with the current theme so a body kit was the next progressive step.
I knew what I had in mind and I didn’t want any cheap fibreglass jap style rubbish touching the sax so I settled on the best kit you can get for a saxo - the Dimma kit.
Over the next couple of months id been looking on eBay and here for Dimma kit parts. I gradually started sourcing all the bits I needed
Rear bumper:
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/Image043-1.jpg
Cheers to Curran on here for this. (This was ages ago!)
Front bumper:
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/DSC01239-1.jpg
eBay Jobbie!
Side Skirts:
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/Dimma2.jpg
These took ages to source but in the end eBay came to the rescue!
These were then dropped off to the local body shop to be sprayed up…as soon as we collected the kit me and some mates set about fitting the kit. (At this stage only the front and rear bumpers were fitted as the side skirts were proving to be tricky to fit)
Excuse the dirty pics!

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/Dimma5.jpg
A week later the side skirts were fitted and the car was given a good clean:

(Some dirty pics for good measure)

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x210/andy_e_2007/Image171-1.jpg
I then planned on getting a decent exhaust setup and induction kit (engine remained totally standard), changing those horrid l.e.ds! (what was I thinking!), smoked angels, colour coding the side strips, de-badging and de-wipering the rear as well as getting some french pressed plates and eventually some deep dish 17".
Although all these plans were in place, I got bored of the look I was going for and also the fact it was always going to be more show than go, after I got a few decent quotes on a VTS I stopped throwing money at the westy and brought a 02reg VTS March this year.
I know the saxo isn't to everyones taste but im sure we've all had visions that havent perfectly materialised! looking back though im glad I added the individual touch to my sax :afro:
Feel free to comment - and also to photoshop my plans that would of taken place!
Comments welcome

the car came a long way from where you started, well done for going for it and like what you done. only comment would be a nice twin exit exhaust or exhaust of your liking that is bit bigger to go with the style of the body kit
