Hi I am new to forums and thought it could be a good way of getting some good advice, so here goes.

i have just brought my daughter her first car, it's a saxo desire 1.1.
I have noticed that the windscreen washer is not working. I have checked the fuses and they are ok and everything else on the stalk works . Could the problem be with the washer pump itself and if so how can it be replaced?

Thanks

can you hear a whining noise when you try to squirt the screen.. ? if so then the pumps fine,.. check the tubing from the pump.. and wetness in the bonnet..

when you try the rear it normally makes a noise for a while then water comes out.. where the front is normally at the same time

Could be a bit of dirt in the pipe, stopping water getting out.

if the pumps not making a noise or a nasty one, a new pumps about 12quid from citroen and takes about 15mins to fit through the drivers side wheel arch :)

i have just tried it again and it pumped for about 3 seconds then died so I guess that it is the pump itself that's u/s.

take it to an electrical garage or citreon and they should fit you one shouldn't cost anymore than £30 (including the pump) about a 10 minute job. Or of you want to do it yourself. Buy said pump (obviously) and pull the inner wheel lining off on the drivers side. You should be able to just reach round and pump the pump out of the washer bottle location disconnect the electrical plug and fit the new pump. Reconnect the plug and push back into the bottle. Not really that hard to do to be honest. But as i said, if you cant be bothered just take it to an electrical garage. Where are you based?
