Ball joints!

OK my car failed MOT for ball joints being gone on both sides! front driver and passenger!

i was having a look, and ive ordered the parts but im not sure exactly which thing it is im taking out, as there is one at the top which looks the same as the one below it!

sorry if i cant explain it, if anyone knows what am talkin please help me out!
