Has it recently been serviced?

Mine had this issue and my Sports Cat and 4-2-1 were to blame apparently..

Your CAT may be shot, might be worth buying an upgraded one. Have you modified your fuel mixture etc?

no the magnex is only modification, i even tried the expensive petrol, redex, and giving it a long run but to no avail. i wouldnt mind if i had tried 2 pass the car with a decat on but surely just a magnex system wouldnt do much harm to the gases or would it?

another problem is my headlights are sitting to low, is this a simple fix??

headlight ajustment is normally just a twist of a screw to fix, or even the electric lamp adjustment thing on the dashboard.

My guess is that your Cat is knakered mate.

triedon the dashboard, where is this screw located, sorry i sound thick but dont no much about this side of cars lol, wil try the cat, anyone selling one on here as dont have enough posts to ask in the wanted section.

TBH it wont take you long to get to 50 posts and you'll be able to check the for sale section etc. shouldn't be that expensive to just buy a new one i would've thought. The screw is normally located behind the headlight unit itself the MOT place will normally do it for about £5 i think.

Could be lambda sensor?

the screw for the headlamps to adjust them is on top on the headlamp motor on the back of the headlamp, if you look at the top of the motor there is an allan key adjuster, just use the correct size allan key to move up and down. There is a hole in the slam panel directly above the motor so easy to get to.

To adjust left and right there is a white twisty thing on the back of the light unit, use this to alter left and right.

Dont you know someone in a garage that can test your emissions by holding the tester further back, this will pick up less emissions equalling lower emissions. My local garage do it for me cus i have a decat.

Hope that helps.

Had problems with this with my Gti, CO was 7%, cleaned TB, put std manifold back on and standard air box, also seal up the charcoal canister purge valve, (Left hand side of plastic 16v cover, underneath) cut it and block it as can leak unmetered air into inlet.

After doing this my car flew through! Was running out of ideas as changed cat, lambda, map sensor and many others to no avail!

Give it a try mate as is free (If you still have std exhaust and intake).

Good luck,

Matt

I had same problem.
Clean lambda with wire wall, takes minutes.
Buy some cleaner stuff from a garage, put the whole thing in your petrol tank with half a tank of fuel.
This will clean fuel pipes, injectors etc. Rag the fuck out of it for a few days.
New air filter and new spark plugs.
All these will help, and should keep the old CO emissions down.
Oh and also, get the cat nice at hot before it has the test. Take it for a blast.
Hope this helps buddy.
