vtr liars! slight rant

apologies to anyone on here that buys a 1.4 or less with vtr/s badges and hasn't had the time to remove it....but why do people do this???!!!!

just made a lad at my college look a right fool in front of his mates, do you think i was doin him a favour:

him: (to his pals) 'yeh had the mk.1 westcoast' for a few months and decided to upgrade to the mk.2 vtr, it's fuc**** well quick mate'

him: (to me)(minding my own business walking by) 'here ya! you used to have a vtr dint ya? (pure blackpool talk lol), aren't they well quick'

me: (upon noticing the rear drum brakes) 'yeh they pretty nippy, why? you thinking of gettin one pal?'

him: 'haha this is one mate! got it tuvver week!'

me: 'that's a furio mate, i'm not dumb, you've got drum brakes on the back'

him: 'all saxo's have rear drum brakes mate, even the vtr's (he obviously doesn't know the vts even exists)

me: no mate, any higher than 1.6 they have rear disks

him: 'it's a vtr pal, you jealous cos you aint got one no more'

me: look mate, drum brakes, shite interior, not colour coded mirrors, show us ya logbook'

him: alirght then (get's the log book out)

me: look here where it says engine size,,, it says 1387cc, that means it's not a vtr, so be a wise boy, take the vtr badges off you look stupid'

all his mates (at him): 'hahahah you just got owned pal, gutted for ya liar!'

Had one chap before with a 1.1 with a VT* kit on it, 3 stud wheels etc..Said it was a VTR i was like, its got 3 Stud hubs and rear drums..Grow up..lol

how can you tell the difference between a VTR and VTS just by looking at them, apart from badges?!

The alloys are different the vtr has pepper pot style and the vts has 5 spoke ones.

However if its a mk1 they both have vtr wheels on

aside from the vts having 16v badges on the rear 1/4's and the interior is different and obviously the engine is differnt if you look at it :)

By the way...i dont think my VTR is as fast as a ferrari (its faster :P) i know its slow compared to whats out there....but id say badging up a car for the purpose to look like another car is ok...aslong as you dont brag it being the as fast etc as the car your trying to replicate!

And when it comes to selling....replace them with the originals....

agreed...like if and when i go through with my VTS conversion...il be keeping the VTR badges on the car....

I dont see it being such a problem putting on badges to replicate higher models....just dont brag and when coming to sell....be honest or swap back!

I watched nightwatch about 2 weeks ago. Anyway, a copcar stopped this african guy in His golf, because of speeding. So one of the cop decides to a vechile check, The car had V5 badges on it, GTI etc.... so when the he opened the bonnet... BAM! 1.4i . why would i rip james? he's not badging it up as a 1.6 is he now. also he has done the engine mods to make it quicker, not just put a higher model badge on the car. it would be different if the lad had put a vtr engine in as well to make it a replica. without a vtr engine, its not a vtr. simple.
