Hi all,
Have posted before about this, the problem is my rear have had the hole back apart looked at bearings (dont look that old) no movement what so ever, looked at the bushes there fine.
nothing looks out of place, drives fine, but if you look at the pictures the rear wheel on the drivers side look to have a camber more than the passengers side.
now the car has not been lowered or anything like that just whats worries me is that the car is due for an M.O.T april 25th and i dont no if it will fail there are no advisory notices for it

can you put up a pic of the whole of the rear of the car so i can compare and see how much difference there is between them. i noticed my camber yesterday for the first time and didnt realise how angled the rear wheels actually are, mine standard suspension too but both wheels are the same.

i took it down to shitroen end of november to see if it was just the bearings but they turned round and said that i would need a new axle. two weeks past then got told the part was on back order until after jan. had to get a complete second hand axle from a local scrapers.
Nathan6301
8th March 2008, 14:45
how much did that cost you just for the axle
Marcos
8th March 2008, 14:54
my axle was worse than that but that was cause i went round a corner to fast and back came out and straight into a kerb and it bent bad but i got a axle for £45 2nd hand and then jonezy basiclly fitted it for me as i dint know what to do! try taking your wheel off and see if its scrubbing an were

it will be the bearings, or the stub axle could have bent but i doubt it.
Nathan6301
8th March 2008, 15:30
no movement in the bearings, cant see anywhere where the wheel has been rubbing

jack the whole back of the car up off the ground and waggle the wheels side to side and up and down, if there is excessive play in the wheel this is an mot failure, if the wheels are solid and have no play it should pass, also check for brake bind while the wheels are off the ground.
excessive wheel play can be one of two things, tho. it can either be a wheel bearing or the axle itself, axles on saxos, axs ans 106s are prone to going and this means a new axle. check it and see what you feel.

could be that you just need the wheel camber adjusting then mate
Nathan6301
10th March 2008, 11:33
How do you do that
jpsaxo
10th March 2008, 11:38
stubb pins have gone, i get them made up - cant get them from citroen or pug.
You will need to whip the beam off, and press the pin in. Then wack the trailing arm back on with new bearings and seals. Jobs a good'un

I'd be interested for you to explain how you do this on a saxo?

there should be some adjustment nuts at the sides of the support brace on the wheels of the axle, this is how you adjust the camber, this is dificult to do though, unless you have a good idea of what your doing probarbly best taking it to a garage. if yours is an axle without adjusters and if fixed theres not a lot you can do.

Take the wheel off, pull the trailing arm off, if the pin's are pitted at all the stubb pins are nackard. I can supply them @ £80. You will need a press to press the new pin in.
Bearings and seals are about £35 per side.

Its funny you say this, we refurb and lower beams every week, and have done for the past couple of years now and i've never seen any such device - on around 100 beams from s1's, gtis to mark one and two saxos...
Have you got any pictures?

pull the wheel off, take the arb out, take the torsion bar's out, and you should about be able to move the trailing arm a sufficiant amount to have a look at the stubb pin (that the trailing arm sits on), while retaining the brake lines etc on. Be careful and take your time - not a 5min job.

Get a big hammer, a massive screw or you can use a puller of some kind.

Rang them, they only do the pins in the trailing arm. Not the actualy stubb pins which in 9/10 case are the part which wear's - through shit lowering techniques and not frequently checking the rear arb plates / seals.

Right i got the ARB out and the seals have gone, i managed to get one of the bolts out of the torsion bar with a little help from a impact driver and pulled the trailing arm off a little and there dosent seem to be any damage to the stubb axle.
How do i remove the torsions without a slide hammer and one of the bolts on the torsions i just cant get free any ideas?
