Well i'm just having a think at the moment.. so just thought i'd share my thoughts.
as some may know i have just got a new job, with a company car. (not sure what yet, probs a new fiesta or focus)
now my question is....
shall i just sell the saxo and only have my company car or keep the saxo for fun or buy one of the below for fun??
i know two of them are abit extreme (exige and vx220) but i wont be moving out for a while and whilst i have got the disposable income and no mortgage i may consider them.
i have had a quote for the exige for 1350 to insure (cheaper than what i paid for my VTS some some reason) and cost around 17k to buy
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u58/AJ_VTS/lotus-exige-back-1_107.jpg
the vx220 turbo is just as quick but much cheaper! (looking for your comments saxo180)

the ek9 is rare and i have heard nothing but great things tbh, but its older.

the ep3 JDM is lovely, but not as quick and not as wow.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u58/AJ_VTS/1-1.jpg
the corsa VXR is lovely (thanks for the pick mikey :P) my mate has one, and every time i get in it, i want one. lol. its a new car and with a few visits to courtney, it can be very quick.

as i said before, its only a maybe and wont be happening for about 6 months. it will just be used for weekends and maybe track days...
just interested in your views really

Not the EK9. to much money to spend on a old car imo.
If i had to have one of them.
it would be the Exige or the VX220.

thats too sensible. lol.
if i decided to spend it on the more expensive option. i would sell it when i came to buy a place and use that towards a deposit?
its the only chance i will have to own one tbh.
the cost to live nowdays is stoopid

Or go balls out and buy a Ariel Atom.

8th March 2008, 13:01
Id go with the exige, looks like it could be a lot of fun, and it has more a head turning appeal than the others imo :p
You only live once! :y:
the corsa VXR gets my vote :y:
ive heard its the best handling car out of the new production hatchbacks...
also set the quickest ever time in a hatchback at the Nurburgring....so its already been set up for the track...

yeah i do love the VXR and it is a new car with warenty etc. you can get the to 225bhp fairly cheaply too.
i think an exige would beat one round the ring though. lol. and as wallsy said, you are gunna notice the exige more. lol
its priorities though! its alot of money for a car that will do 4k miles a year ish.
i could just stick with the saxo and turbo it. lol

8th March 2008, 14:12
stick wid saxo, 4wd cossie conversion lol with rally arches!!!

JDM CTR is lush.
seems most sensible outta all them!
but tbh,
why not go crazy on the VTS?
Throttle bodies and some fast road cams?
polycarb windows.
no interior.
would make it dead fun?

personally id have the exige. much nicer looking than the vauxhall, and doesnt have a gay badge on it :P

get an exige, it's a quality car, then you can let me take it for a spin, lol.

Exige does come with a slightly small price tag......
Adum
8th March 2008, 14:17
yeah the Exige has got to be the most unlikely one out of them all tbh.
i have found one that is 2001, 37k miles £16,500
or the VX220 turbo, 04 15k £14,500 ono
i love how fun the saxo is, but mine is reachin the 70k mark and im not overly keen on spendin loads on an engine with 70k on it. lol
Steve- you could drive it... up and down my drive. lol

thats what puts me off tbh. iv heard they are brilliant cars. but its a vauxhall...
if you tell someone that doesnt know about cars...
"what do you drive??"
"a Vauxhall vx220 turbo"
"oh...is that like a corsa"

yeah i would too tbh. but then if you know me, you'd still call me a bastard! lol
i know what you mean though. id prob get alot of abuse for it.
i could forget gettin a new car al together and move out with the mrs! but then im only 20 n i think im way too young to do that.
steve_335
8th March 2008, 14:42
i wouldn't do that, i would call the bits on your car it though. Did you get that other bolt fixed?? If you got abuse for it, it would probs be because people are jealous of it.
Karl
8th March 2008, 14:44
Could always consider a nice 1*2 Clio?
Jazz

The Lotus would be mad, have never heard of anyone at 20 having one! Fantastic track car.
Adum
8th March 2008, 14:55
well i would be 21 when id get it... the insurance comp that i got quote wudnt insure me at 20.
im not too keen on the 182's sorry Karl.

Exige or corsa for me.
I would give it a good 6 months in your new job to make sure you are well settled in and not gonna get sacked/pissed off with the job and leave.

im too tight with my money to be careless with it.

I would say the VX220 as its cheaper than the Exige, so with the spare cash you can put it towards a deposit for a house. Though the Exige is bloody marvellous!

You're never too young to move out and get a mortgage. I regret staying at home at the moment, just spent over £10k on a car too, but then you only live once and i needed a better car for work so it had to be done. The market is a bit dodgy at the moment, wait and see what happens with regards to house prices. Personally i can't see them dropping for shit but if it does happen then firstly you can get a house cheaper and secondly you won't have lost money on the house had you bought it before recession.

Not at all mate, my firend has his own place and he is 20. Its up to you when you move out
steve_335
8th March 2008, 15:10
Yeah, i was thinknig about moving out in a year or so, by that time i will be 19.
Adum
8th March 2008, 15:22
yeah i suppose, but it does cost alot to move out. which is my dilema. whether to enjoy it whilst i can and then start to pain of a mortgage. or whether to start now.
n about the market Alex, i understand exactly what your saying. iv heard its supposed to be going down, so im not keen on purchasing if im gunna lose money. house prices are ridicularse atm especially in essex!
Jazz
8th March 2008, 15:27
but do you guys think 21 is too young to move out and get a mortgage?
I personally would not like to move out and get a mortgage until I was in a very stable job (which I'm happy with) and also when I feel its time to fly the nest. I'm 20 at the moment, wouldn't dream of moving anywhere by myself yet, unless renting for Uni etc. I'd personally have a nice car and wouldn't leave until early-mid 20s when I'm sure I'm financially able to sustain a mortgage. But if I'm still living with my folks at say 25, then I'll be like  hmmm... I must be missing something...
steve_335
8th March 2008, 15:40
i was looking at renting a place with a few pwoplw, i think it was only £200-300 a month, i didn't think it was too bad.
Adum
8th March 2008, 15:42
well they say the average age people move out is 24 so iv got 3 and a bit years to spend money on a car. lol
the problem i have though is my gf. she is 24 this year and will be 27 if i wait until im 24, which she is not happy about at all. lol. but then i dont want to rush my life because she is impatient. lol

If the house prices continue to rise(which they will because there are too many people in this country and there is a massive demand for new housing, therefore there is demand and the supply can't meet demand which means the price will continue to rise. They are just trying to slow the market by stopping people from buying therefore the prices won't rise so quickly. Scaremongering.
Anyway if the prices continue to rise, the earlier you get on the property ladder the better, you put your money into a house and you get a fat return, you pay just the interest on the mortgage, in 5 years time you sell the house and you have made a pretty hefty 50k(if not more). The more you pay off the better though obviously. Therefore the longer you are on the ladder the more you make.
Adum
8th March 2008, 15:50
yeah true, its just buying a decent place first though thats gunna be tough to find. a 2 bedrrom flat around my area is about £150k and houses £225k, so a mortgage over 30 years will be around the 1k mark. which can go towards a car. lol
i was considering buying a flat, renting it out to pay the mortgage and then any profit i make, use towards my own place when im ready to move out.
AlexR
8th March 2008, 15:53
Buy a flat, rent a spare room to a mate, pay the mortgage and get a car. Sorted.

Exige FTW! I love the elise and exige! Would have one if I could afford it!
Adum
8th March 2008, 16:07
well the exige is a bit of a pipe dream tbh. i could get it, but its not realistic at only 21.
I'll have a look at renting out a flat tbh. i'll see in 6 months time how i feel
steve_335
8th March 2008, 16:13
That's what i thought, rent na flat with a couple of people and split the rent, pretty cheapish way to pay rent.
Adum
8th March 2008, 16:53
yeah was it you i was telling about my gf mates who live in some mahoosive house and only pay 260 a month? it is a good idea... if you dont hava gf. lol
my mrs would kill me if i moved out with mates and not her.
steve_335
8th March 2008, 16:54
yeah, it was me, when we were doing your manifold, i don't have a gf atm, mates are also a good idea though.
Adum
8th March 2008, 16:58
yeah i would move out with mates if i wasnt with her. and she hates this idea of spunkin my dosh on a car! lol
i havnt got that bolt sorted yet btw. im not sure if im losing power atm, sounds faster, and feels more responsive, but the speedo doesnt seem to be goin up as quickley as it used to.
cant get the staff nowadays :P
steve_335
8th March 2008, 17:01
Yeah if that was anyone else you would have been charged a bucket load for how long it took, i did it for a friend, if you are going to abuse me i won't hel pyou next time, lol. Can't see how one bolt could do all that though, but you never know.
Adum
8th March 2008, 17:07
i was kidding. i will give you some moneys when i get paid, your a ledge for spending 8 hours watchin me do all the work. lol. JOKE!!
nah seriously, i dont think it is the bolt, gunna get it checked anyway. a garage shouldnt charge much for finishing putting in a stud and check for blowing?
steve_335
8th March 2008, 18:04
I was only messing about too, hence the lol at the end, lol. I helped you too, didn't just spend eight hours watching.
You could check for blowing yourself, just leave the engine on tick over and go though all the joints, if you feel air rushing out, it's blowing, might even have to get someone to rev it.
