Hi mate
according to the Haynes manual you have to remove the steering wheel

hi mate

yer you remove the upper and lower covers (3x torx screw), then 2x torx screws on the back of the steering wheel to get the air bag out. then a big torx bolt/screw holding the steering wheel on has to be removed then you can get to the plastic sourrounding the indicator stalk and washer stalk.

hope this helps

- Disconnect the battery
- Wait 10 minutes
- Remove two torx bolts from the back of the steering wheel, releasing the airbag so you can remove it. Put it face up on the floor away from the car
- With some tipex, mark a very thin line over the bolt onto the wheel in a line, so you can align it later
- Undo the central bolt, remove the wheel. If it wont come off, put the bolt in a few turns and hit the wheel from behind gently until it does
- Disconnect the orange wire at the connectors carefully
- Undo the three screws holding the rotating unit in place, pull the little pin on the left down and pull out the unit
- Undo the next set of screws, carefully pull the indicator stalk unit off the collumn.

hope this helps.

wheel only goes on one way mate you dont have to mark where it was

dont have to take the airbag ring sensor off either, should just be able to undo the 2 small torx screws and it will come out and then disconnect the wiring

Think I'd take heed of lukesaxokid in being extra careful with the airbag and its connections - its easy to forget there's a small explosive charge inside it!!!
The advice on facing it up is incase it goes off and doesn't catapult the gubbins in the back of it up into your face at 1000mph!!!!
Crazy design though aint it, that you have to take the wheel off to get to them, but the man is correct...
