Wishbones, Ball Joints or Bushes?

Well i was driving down the road the other day and my car was making a random banging noise at the left hand side wheel, i took it to my local garage and they said it was either my wishbones or my bushes? They said they couldnt deal with it though and i would have to take it somewhere else, so my mum has booked it in with someone today!!

Has anyone every had this problem before? How expensive is it to fix?

a new wishbone is like £20-30 then about the same for fitting. not an expensive job.
