i have a pioneer 3000w (max) (unsure on model think rms is 1200 but not 100%) and wednesday my vibe a7 is being delivered can anyone tell me if this will sound good. I have autoleads guage 4 cables (model:pc4-60) and also is there anyone near me that can wire this up to a headunit. No components.

I can do fitting for ya if you want seeing as i'm only in Maidstone....

Model numbers of parts do help mate. It'll sound ok if set up ok :). If you can, provide model numbers of the amp, sub, and headunit :) Have you got a box for the sub as well?

Are you looking at running this alongside standard speakers? any other ICE in the car at all?

well as for cable hiding, its all run underneath the carpet tidily out of sight (I have a bit fetish with cable tidying :P) I take time and effort when doing installs (mines just being a pain in the 4R$E atm), not just whacking it all in and saying its done.... I'll pull up specs of all you gear in just a sec. What is your budget for components?

mcchriswood

I'm sure Pred will be able to guide you on a good component setup as that is his speciality on here :)

As for a fitting charge, I havn't got a clue tbh. Havn't done an install for someone else (who isn't a close mate etc) for quite a while, so i'd revers the question with, what would you be offering?

mcchriswood
11th March 2008, 00:34
well give me an idea on how long it will take whats involved and ill tell you. I did ask a shop and they said its a small install its worth me doing it myself by reading up on how to do it because it wouldnt take them too long. but you know what places like that are like they wouldnt do it properly anyway i want a good job done. havent got a clue. name a price and if i think its too high ill say. hopefully we can come to an arrangement and if not then i lose out lol.

just emailed pred...let me know some sort of price how long it will take things like that

Noddy
11th March 2008, 00:44
as to what is involved, its a case of me removing the seats and lifting the carpet for laying the cable (and vice versa), passing the power cable through into the engine bay, fitting the inline fuseholder and connecting to the battery, sorting out the earth, laying the remote cables to the headunit and the RCA leads, tidying cables, connecting up the amp and sub, testing connections and then setup the sub on the headunit.

I think looking at it, it could be a 3 ish hour job as i'm pretty sure thats how long it took to fit my sub - components took me 4 hours to do properly i think

mcchriswood
11th March 2008, 00:48
i didn't realise seats would have to come out etc. what would a shop charge to do this (they told me it ws a small job) if i know roughly what sort of price you want i know we can negotiate. im not willing to pay over the top though. ill pay for a good job done but at a reasonable price. its up to you.

Noddy
11th March 2008, 00:51
I would never ask for stupid money to do it. Say 30-40 quid tops. Havn't got a clue as to what a shop would charge as i've never asked tbh...

mcchriswood
11th March 2008, 00:57
ok theres that one in chatham i might give them a ring see what they say. what your asking sounds fair. if you know you are going to do a good job. i worry about things like this lol want it set up properly so it sounds as it shoudl. get back to me and ill repy tomorrow see what they say. if i get components is this price going to go up. il pm you tomorrow anyway. thanks for all the help. will probably ask you to do it. well most def. let me know and ill speak 2 u 2moro. thanks

If you want components fitted as well i'd look at an extra 10-12 quid on top max... If you want you can have a look at my install first to see how it would all be done :y:

Fancy the SE meet at Lakeside as well? :p

mcchriswood
11th March 2008, 07:23
i am down lakeside quite a bit of a saturday night in my mates polo. when isit? going to enquire later about how much this shop in chatham charges. one of my mates said he got his done (not the chatham one and they charged just over 9 quid an hour) and it took em about 3 and a half hours
how well it was done i am not sure. will get back to you after work. Chris

+ what size components will i need? chris

+ what size components will i need? chris

You need 130cm (5").

You would also be best to buy an amp for these too! If you want the best out of them that is...

It might be worth running 2 rca cable to the boot, which saves you ripping up all the carpet againwhen you get another amp.

mcchriswood
11th March 2008, 17:00
got told 8.50 an hour although i do not like sound of hourly rates (things get longed out) ill give you 30 odd quid including the compinents if i get them? what you think

Noddy
11th March 2008, 23:51
I've never liked the sound of hourly rates either. Make it £35 if you want components as well an you've got a deal :y:

mcchriswood
12th March 2008, 00:30
ok no components 25? that sounds fair? yeah hourly rates dont suit me either

Noddy
12th March 2008, 00:35
that sounds fair to me.

So you'll have your amp, sub (in box) and cabling all there yip?

mcchriswood
12th March 2008, 00:36
yeppp i sure will amp is coming tomorrow i hope. you will do a good job wont ya :) you are welcome to do it at my house or i can come to you and leave car with you whatever suits you best?

just one thing?? how will i secure sub in the box to make it air tight rather than just having it sitting int here?

and will it slide around in my boot?

thanks chris

Noddy
12th March 2008, 00:42
The sub would be screwed into the box. I very much doubt it would slide. The weight of it is enough to stop that happening (mine does not move at all - neither do my amps, and their not secured down yet)

If you leave it with me, would you go and come back? (you could pop into maidstone while you wait:))

mcchriswood
12th March 2008, 00:46
yeah would let my mate take me out in his sax wile we wait? no driving my baby though lol. i dont have screws to screw it down where can i get them from and what ones will i need?

mcchriswood
12th March 2008, 00:47
and i take it you have done quite a few before and will do it well? setup correctly etc

Noddy
12th March 2008, 00:49
I wouldn't drive her about (if anything off my drive onto the road). I've gotta get some more screws anyway for around the house so i'll use some of them...

Erm as for day and time. Tomorrow I'm busy networking a house - Thurs Would be my get odds and sods day. So Friday? (as is work weekends)

I've done my car god knows how many times, plus i've done installs for people at college.

Trust me i'm not robbing you off here. If i feel my work is not up to standard, then I won't do it. Simple as.

I'll run the system and check it as part of the work :)

If you have any problems after, i'll look at it for nothing....

mcchriswood
12th March 2008, 00:51

Ill be honest here, i had one of those subs and it was crock lol I have a 601 JBL amp, i had it running at 2ohms which would of been 600rms and it blew the sub after not long, considering I have been blasting a cheap sony explod for the same amount of time and with the same amount of power and it hasnt blown.
