Hello,
Right i think its the lamda sensor thats causing my car to keep stopping whilst driving...
Im not sure where i can get one from other than ebay.. I dont know what sort im looking for..
Other than it goes under the bonnet and its a single wire..for a westcoast..
Anyone know if it would be this??

Unlikely. The lambda sensor sends signals back to the ECU on how it perceives the air / fuel ratio. If the sensor gives up the ghost, the ECU will go into a safe mode and run the mixture rich to be extra safe. This shouldn't cause the car to just pack up, it'll be more likely to increase your fuel consumption and also cause higher than normal emissions.

hmm sounds about right... It was stopping then suddenly starting again whilst driving and the ecu light was flashing when this happens.
Also its eating petrol, and alot of smoke from me exhaust!

I had the sensor changed in my vtr, but everytime that stopped it stank..when this one only smells some times. Maybe thats cos its had a new cat on i dunno.
Hmm still maybe i should find one and change it just to see..

Sounds like it was misfiring. A flashing ECU light often means this. It's possible that an over-rich mixture can cause it to miss. You can get a lambda sensor from around £45 - £50 from the right place. Don't use a second hand one... I buy sensors and the like from Allparts, I don't know if you have one of them in your area?

Some other things to check though... Spark plugs are cheap, and if they are old, I would change them, it's a simple job. If you have HT leads and a distributor cap, look at changing them too if they haven't been done in a while. Peace of mind at the end of the day.
