engine mounts!

They did take the engine out i think is it possible that they hav'nt put the engine in tight enough or secure enough, when i look at the engine it does appear to shake a little but nothing serious, i can handle it shaking just concerned incase its more than that and it may be a sensor or something, dont want it cutting out on me!

i'd say its the mounts tbh. might be worth just checking them over, would be more concerned about the engine falling from underneath the car tbh

im not very good with cars so what am i looking for and where are the mounts located

No worries mate. On your engine there will be 3 mounts. One under the batterey, one under the ECU and one right underneath just behind the gearbox. best bet is take it to a mechanic who will be able to check them for you. Think its a case of putting it in reverse with bonnet open and looking to see how much the engine tips backwards....could be wrong there though...

ok mate sound, cheers! i feel a bit cheeky taking it back to where i had the work done and asking them to check my engine mounts, already been back once because the new radiator they fitted was leaking from the fan switch! if i just took it to another garage and asked them to check the mounts would they charge me anything you reckon?

Not too sure really. I'd just take it back to where you got the work done originally and say that you've noticed the car shakes since having th work done and could you check it out

Imo it doesnt sounds like the engine mounts to me. Not too sure what it could be tbh, but with the engine mounts the car wouldnt shake when he is just stationary. It would also shake badly when moving slowly or between certain amounts of revs and excersion on the engine. Just had mine replaced on the VTS I just bought.

its just when the revs are at normal idle speed once you even slightly put a bit of pressure on the excellerater to say a 1000 revs its stop bein shakey straight away! id say its worse when the engine has warmed up, might be normal but i dont remember it doing it before i had the work on the engine done!

If the head gaskets gone inbetween the cylinders, it might have been wise to get them changed at the same time as the gasket, cos water and oil won't have done them much good

car runs perfectly fine though mate, actually feels quicker and more responsive! plus it was oil in my water not water in my oil if that makes any difference! they steam clean the whole engine out anyway! im thinking spark plugs or engine mounts myself, il mention it when i take it for its service!

I sometimes feel mine doing the same. I think my exhaust mounts need replacing as the exhaust wobbles quite alot...dunno if maybe that could be a problem?

put your car in gear with the hand brake on, try moving off, (there is a nack to doing this) if the mounts are lose or need re-placing you will see to much engine movment, it sounds to me that the ignition timeing is out a little.

this happened to me mate, it was the engine mounts, get it into a garage or the garage that you had it in, maybe thejust have't tightened them up, but best get it checked.
