i used to work for them and not "biggin" them up. but just use halfords (i know there crap) but the premixed paints are good. have used on about 4 of my 7 cars in the past 2 years, never had a problem. and did the dash in my saxo yesterday

Yes mate you will have 2 sand it down, just make sure when you have put primer on it u flat it back, otherwise it will look like paint has orange pealed.
just use bout 1200 sand paper, or wet and dry does the job, thats what i use at work :y:

no i wouldnt get halfords do it for you, id rather get teebagged. you need to sand the panel or area down, till its nice and smooth. then use a primer (i find grey is generally better) let that set hard, once that has set if you have oversprayed sand it down again till its all level (but still covered with primer) then add a coat of paint.. you may need to add a couple of coats but dont forget to let it dry solid.
after fully sprayed i usually leave it for a few days to a week to weather in then cut it back

ah lol, got a rigby tailors near you. or you could just go to any place that does paint in your area but test it on an inconspicuous area first, under the bonnet, behind a rear light etc

and i was to buy a new spoiler or something could i get a good enough finish by just using paint from a spray can as that would save me so much time and money?

i have used them for areas on the car of about the size of a clenched fist, resprayed half a bonnet on an astra van (some one had done it in emmultion - sorry cant spell) and rear panels on a few cars. No idea how much you would need for a whole car mate, i would get that done pro tbh.
some colleges do offer courses on spraying i believe

yeah i think should be fine if you do it right, get it sanded smooth primered and painted without over spraying.
if you do it all right the quality should not be noticeable.. unless you don't get it smooth or use the wrong paint :)
