hi guys,
got a new car and with my dad being a policeman he's being a bit funny(moaning in other words) about me getting my windows done. i had them medium on my saxo and it was not too dark/not too light, i thought they were perfect. (he wasnt too happy about them either but got over it)
basically he's saying you can get points for illegal tints and also saying they can take your car off you.
i just thought it was a fine and you had so many days to change the tints
can anyone help ?

ye the front windows are already at the legal tint :(
got it booked in, if i get caught i get caught and i'll remove them, (lesson learnt) but i had my saxo done for 6months+ and didnt get any bother. (even got stopped twice for other things and they didnt mention the windows then... just gonna have to put up with my mum and dad moaning at me for a week or so .lol

yes this can happen (even tho it makes a mess of ur windows and prob reduces visibility even more until u get the windows cleaned up) but ye it can happen.
suppose it depends on the police officer that pulls you... depending on if they have had a bad day or not lol

im sure they dont force you to do this! I think they give you the option and if you remove them there and then you avoid the fine, thats what the choice they offered me anyways so i took the fine being as i was on my way to a cruise and would of made the car look a mess..

hahaha good lad, wise choice lol.. i think i'd rather have the fine and keep the tints on then if i was to get fined again then remove them. i had my tints for 6+ month and didnt have any bother so i think after a few fines i would change them lol...
i think all this depends on the officer that pulls u for it ... they might just warn you/fine you/force you to remove them/ or could do all... i thnk it's all down to the officer tbh

Yeah that is true however round where I live they are pulling and fining people for anything as the modified seen gets mahoosive round here and there injunction has run out for racing round the nearby motorway junction, so just driving through your village they like to stop and check certain stuff.

as farr as im aware its 0% on the front and whatever you like on the back. Anything on the front will cause you problems with the police no doubt. I guess it depends weather they find you on a day they have no jobs to go to!

If you actually read the VOSA pdf that was just posted, you'll see it must let 70%/75% light through, to those who are still saying random figures.
I've been pulled over for mine by traffic cops, they said i wasn't allowed any tints on the front, but i'd already read up about it, so stood my ground. Fortunately they got a call and had to fly off. Close call, as they seemed to want to issue me with a fine despite the fact i KNEW they weren't being truthful about the law regarding it.
