I had an engineer from XYZ windscreens repairing 2 chips in my windscreen, he did the best he could but they were not really fixable, so it turns out I am going to need a new windscreen.

He asked me what my excess is, £70, then gave me a card with his number on and said that if I call him, he will come and do the windscreen for £40 - and not through the insurance - it seems that the actual piece of glas costs only £18!!!!!

Why do they rip us off so much?!!?!??!

ye but then its classed as a claim on ur insurance, my mate worked for them and told me its a scam as some companys like elephant etc class it as a claim like crashing etc... so be careful of these 'free' repairs..

its not classed as a claim at all!

i got my windscreen replaced a few weeks ago.

if it was a claim, it would fuck your no claims

What happened to the one on the 307?

Exactly.

Most insurance companies allow you to make 2 or 3 window claims per annum.

UPDATE

He's been, fitted the new screen £40 done!

He can do others in the Sussex/Surrey area - Saxo screens cost more though, he can do a Saxo fitted for £60 and a ZS for £40

I'm happy, elephant can't tell me I have claimed now (yes, they count it as a claim, as wife found out....)

So it does increase your premium? That's rubbish!

Then again I had to claim when mine smashed in the VTS.

It wasn't an accident claim, but it was a claim....and it put the wifes premium up!
