my engine is mad!

ok,, i have all sorts of noises coming from my engine, addmitedly its my fault for being a little too heavy on it, but today i as sat idol at some traffic lights and my revs shot up for 3000 on its own.. then nearly cut up then flew back up again. its doin it everytime i stop now its like its got its own brain!

any ideas why its doing this?

mines did this for a while when i first got it but its stopped now it used to just blip up to 3000rpm sit there for a bit then drop again then after a few secs it did it again always wondered what it was would be good to know

Coolant temp sensor? Get it on an engine diagnostic system and you'll hopefully find a fault code on there, that'll relate to the problem. I had this and it was that coolant sensor, easy cheap DIY job! Plenty of threads on here from people with similar probs...

ooo cool. my last car used to just cut out,, never new what that was and not one mechinac could give me a diagnosis..
