I need help on how to wire up my boot popper relay. it is off an alarm with outputs that are negative.

I tried wiring it up the way the instructions say which is

87 - permanent live
86 - negative/earth
85 - input off alarm
30 - wire to solenoid(posotive one)

and this did nothing, the other way i tried was

87 and 86 - permanent live
85 - input off alarm
30 - wire to solenoid(posotive one)

the second one i could hear a clicking on the relay but no popping.

can someone tell me how to wire the relay so i cant get it to work off the alarm remotely. the trigger wire from the alarm is negative.

thanks

I would guess the signal from the alarm needs to be positive. You should be able to test this by a quick touching 85 with a positive and see if it pops. A lot of Central lockings change the trigger from pos to neg to open and close.

You need to see if there is any voltage on the 30 when you apply voltage to 85

so would i need a negative relay?? or would it work if i switched the negative on the relay instead of the posotive?
