are french plates legal/illegal?

hi i was wondering if anyone knows uif french number plates are illegal. you know the ones with the french symbol at the start and the letters are in a different font as well.

dont even go down that bloody road lol i have french plates and all i can say is there only goin on for shows now got give a £30 fine 1st time and a warning but done the stupid thing and didnt take no notice then got pulled again and got another £30 fine and if court again my car will be q plated and a £1k fine so yes they are illegal unless the car is from france and b4 some1 says it i know there french im on bout left hand drive and imported over lol
