sold the saxo yesterday and picked this up last night,
completely standard other than a cd player and a dodgey ripspeed gearknob lol,
plans:
lowered 40mm 0r 20mm not sure yet,
lower strut brace
rear wheel spacers( the in thing on zs's apparently)
catback exhaust, mongoose or miltek depending on funds,
and maybe smooth boot as io think it looks great on these
anyway what you guys think...

mmmmmmm. good question, i was bored of my saxo i would have got anotherone but it would have to be a vts which i just cant afford, and this may sound gay but the zs is much more comfortable and it has aircon and it doesnt rattle, and tbh the performance differnce is hardly noticable..

Yes. Much better. That is one of the reasons I sold Suki!

I think I prefer the looks of a Saxo but now I own a Fiesta  I totally understand why you sold your Saxo. The Fiesta drives so well and is such a smooth drive compared to the rattly, creeky saxo! :)

lowering will be done as soon as i get my new bank card through, so your gonna detail it for me then;)
its not that it handles better than the saxo its just it feels more stable, the sax was great for the back roads but as i am mainly doing motorway miles it just got annoying.

Good call, nice car's, but watch out for rust, coilpacks and the HCV (heater control valve)
Best colour aswell, like my old one when I picked it up! LOL!
jamiemackie
16th March 2008, 20:06
yeah this was the only colour i was gonna have, seems to be rust free touch wood.

Not a big fan of the zetec's but they do look lush lowered and a few little mods :)
jamiemackie
17th March 2008, 02:34
wayne, chances are i will be de-tangoing when i get some time, not sure if i fancy the smoked look as its been done to death.
adz, expect mine to look lush then....

I dont like these cars basicly cos there ford, but i aint in the right position to say much with my old skool pug lol
But got to say this one looks nice and tidy, and is the best colour you can get in the zetec-s
Set of black rims will look ace though :y:

Nooo lol i aint sayin i dont like it atall its just with pass experiences with ford thats put me off.........it is actually a very nice car, but thats my opinion, but i would say no in having one though :y:
As for alloys if u had black then what about like a dark grey? or white?

haha i have 2 past experiences with ford, one was great one was rubbish, but as i have no sense whatsoever i got a third one lol. I was thinking white but im not sure i want to stand out that much. I think the wheels are the best colour as they are, although if i was to change it would be a gun-metal/ anthrachite type colour.
Alex

I can detail for you :)
Get some chops done with gun metal/anthracite wheels.

quite nice - plans sound good too. if i was buying a ford for the handling, i would have bought a puma though.

looks nice mate. mines lowered 20mm all round sits nice imo, standard wheels glossed up in black, de-tango-ed, thinking about de-striping the sides so its smoother but ill be to worried about leaving it in car parks front gettin knocked by other doors, other than that tints all round.

Driven both and i prefer mine...Just ;)
I really like the body shapes of both and the zetec engine is much more reliable and the whole car more solid and is built to a better quality than saxo's but im keeping my french shed for now :p
Plans sound sweet and pretty much spot on J mate, get the exhaust and lowering sorted then have some fun with the little touches and bodywork before thinking about maybe a few extra ponies if you get to that stage :y:
Glad your happy with her and let me know about going out for that cruise soon ;)

18th March 2008, 01:01
quite nice - plans sound good too. if i was buying a ford for the handling, i would have bought a puma though.
a puma is a fiesta with a different body is it not?
i would take off the sidestrips but imo it makes it look like as base model,so thats a no.
Red, the plans will be great lol, we will cruise at the weekend, there will be more horses at some point.

Berk. There the same chassis and floor plan, except the Puma has a different shell, and the ZS handles better than a Puma (I've driven both)!
Tbh, I sold mine as it wasn't as quick as it should have been, and i find that the VTS handles better....
I had my wheels powdercoated anthracite btw mate, cost me £200 but looked awesome on Imperial Blue:
With side strips:

If you're lowering it, you can really only go 40mm without buying coilovers, as the Fiesta's will nail wishbones as they hate being lowered! (Plus i'm sure no companies do -60mm lowering springs anymore)
PS, get yourself a SportKA leather interior! The blue and black matches the Phase 2's mint! (with the darker interior).
:)

wow that is a nice zs, £200 for the powdercoating doesnt seem to bad, the lowest i will go is 40mm as the speed bumps round here suck.

Ah cool:) my mate has a silver zetec-s with de-tangoed lights and oz superlegga's, lowered 60mm, clear headlight bulbs, lower strut brace, custom full system longlife exhaust, quickshift, it's got more mods can't remember what but looks awesome, hey may be on zsoc club, his names matthew jackson.

a puma is a fiesta with a different body is it not?
it's based on the fiesta although i'm not sure to what extent. there's sure to be chassis differences though. the reason people think the zs handles great is because it has puma suspension.

Cheers mate, still miss it, (like mad! lol).
40mm is the best drop i found, 60mm looks mint, just maybe too low for everyday use. But you will still scrape like mad, especially if you have a different manifold!
If you need any advice about anything, let me know :)
