I'm just wondering if there's anything that can be added to increase safety from the front end!?
Im aware that saxo's arnt exactly the safest (ncap wise) in a crash...which is scary, as any1 who's been in one will know...
Would adding a strut brace make much difference? as this is the first thing on my wish-list

uprate the brakes to reduce stopping distances, and keep your tyres in good nick

Am I In The Minority Of Thinking The Brakes Are Fine ?
Or Is It On All Models Other Than The Vts?
Ive Never Had Brakes Fade!

not so much the front end but you look to create a safety cell in the event of an accident. Full roll cage with links throught to the front struts would work a treat combined with harnesses and a crash helmet - at least in motrosport lol
naturally you like to avoid the accident first and thats a case of proper maintenance of the brakes, decent suspension and quality grippy tyres.. combined with good driving and awareness

haha, im liking the idea of wearing a crash helmet to the shops!
my brakes arnt exactly bad, just i have noticed a few times there's a bit of a 'gap' where nothing seems to happen...bit useless in a 'must stop quickly' situation which i havnt, touch wood had yet in the sax...any recommended brake brands?

to be honest, no matter what you do, theres no getting away from the fact that there are cardboard boxes out there whcih offer more protection than a saxo. The poor cars were designed and built in the mid 90's and the standards that went with small 'run about' cars. They made some updates as time went on, purley to try and keep in line with competitors but theres no getting away from it, crash asaxo heavyily and its gonna hurt.
But.... that same 'please dont breath on my door, you'll dent it' feel of the saxo is also the reason they are so fun to drive, why im faster than some much more powerful cars on speed events (eg BMW challenge 325's!) and why they are so simple to own and fix.
If you want a safe car, buy a new car but be prepared for a shock, performance wise.

you can fit some impact attenuation material which is essentially rigid foam that deforms when subjected to a compressive force... there is plently of space at the front between radiator and bumper - although I wouldn't recommend covering the radiator for obvious reasons.
it can be bought and cut for a low price
