Ok not sure where axles come under. but this forums sounds close enough.
basicly my car just went in for a MOT and was refused because theres excessive play in back wheels and was quoted more than 1 grand to fix it by the MOT station. cheeky bloke who tested the car tried to take it off of me for 400 pounds.
i got the car home and called up some links to find out that its easier and cheaper to replace the whole rear axle than replacing the radius arms on my axle. so did some digging around and found a mk1 rear axle. will this fit on my mk2 VTR?

also it helps if u have a long 18mm socket bit as we tryd a short 1 nd it was a pain in the ass and need 2 people to lift axle while somebody puts bolts in 2 hold it up when putting it back on

me and a mate did it with just the two of us and a jack at the weekend.lol. i would suggest spraying all the nuts with penetrant the night before though, we broke one wratchet and rounded off a socket trying to remove them, (it is a 98 vts though), easy enough if you know what your doing, and tbh we didnt but still managed:D

£1,000 to fix the axle is absolutely appauling, how the hell they can charge that i dont know.
If you're buying a 2nd hand axle make sure you check that for play aswel before buying and fitting.
Especially check if it has been lowered or not previously as you might find that itll be in fairly shoddy shape too.
It is possible to get your original axle repaired with new stub pins and bearings (which will most likely be knackered on yours) if you're happy to travel etc its well worth giving jpsaxo a PM as him and his dad refurb these.
Hes on holiday this week, but depends how quickly you need it sorting before MOT expires
