is it just me or are the police on 'operation saxo' i swear to god, everytime i see a cop car, it will either turn round and follow me for AGES! obviously doing number plate checks and that or they will actaully pull me over and search my car! tax, tyres. even the glove box-i have a standard vtr but i have a full stainless exhaust with de-cat which obviously draws attention.
i mean is it just me? or do you saxo owners have the same issue?

never even been followed once never mind stopped in nearly 2 years of owning the VTR.... and I do give my car some abuse sometimes... but i suppose that depends on the area where you liev and how tough the police are on motorisists or 'anti social driving' as theyve taken to calling it lol

yeah theres loads of islands where i live, and you just know they flip round and follow you, and a few weeks ago there was a police car a few cars infront of me which turned into a side road and came back out a few cars behind me and followed me pretty much all the way home.. wasted journey for him TBH

yea lol funny aint it, ive been pulled over 8 times in 14 months.. had a fully modified pug 106 n got pulled twice in 6 months.. got a standrad vtr n been pulled 6 times in 7 months.. begining to become a bit of a problem as most of the time they have no basis to pull me over at all. was thinking of complaining actaully cos my mum has never been pulled in 30 years.... just cos my car is loud im a bad person?

i got pulled over time after time in the saxo, especially when full of lads, i think it's due to saxo's (no matter what type) are (or at least were until the trend of brand new first cars off daddy for your bday came in) the most popular young lad car, and with high insurance and driving costs, they expect you to have at least one default on the car be it no tax or thin tread, or being a new driver, when followed by a copper they expect you to silp and do smething wrong,
whenever i'm pulled over i'm thankful because if it takes pulling 20 people over to catch one unlawful driver, well that's one less knob on the road :)
tbh i got pulled over more often in my 106 1.5 diesel that said 'mardi gras' down the side!

been pulled 3 times in under a year. im not complaining though as i've never done anything wrong.
Thing that gets me is people claim the police should do more.. then when they do people moan about that too. Swings and roundabouts i suppose

you obv get followed because you have no exhaust.

ive been followed endless amount of times and thats due to my loud exhaust lol ... i was driving round yesterday and the police were parked in some layby, then as soon as i drove past they flew out and came right up my ass obviously doing checks then we came onto a dual ... i stuck at the speed limit and the police stayed within a foot of my bumper and as this was happenin an Audi TT came flyin past us (very quick i might add) and the police just stayed behind me:S why?
the police target boy-racers as its an easy target and 20% of boy-racers will make a mistake within the first year of driving so the police can pull them...but what i dont like is the fact that the police that pull you end up being young themselves:wacko:
they drive a car really fast through tiny roads with flashin blue lights (sounds like a boy-racer lol) and they wear a uniform doesnt mean they should be allowed to pull you for no reason.
traffic police are only pullin boy-racers so that they look good on their figures, so they end up puttin up more speed cameras to catch people speeding ... but when it comes to the real crimes like murders, robbery and drugs they dont do a thing.

I've never been pulled or followed with my Saxo yet. I drive at 3am in morning past T5 Volvos and most of them don't look at me twice.

only been pulled once duo break light out. Other than tht, they show me the respect i deserve and leave me alone :) .. plus when ever i go past a police car, i take it out of gear so they can't hear the loud exhaust system!

Hmmm interesting, I got stopped yesterday and got shouted at by the copper for having an arch lining not clipped to the car ( The bit inside the wheel )
He also put his hand inside my window and told me my tints were illegal so basically his word against mine class... He then proceeded to bollock me at the side of the road, I dont mean as in raise his voice i mean as in proper shout about how he could give me 3 points and a 60 pound fine, He didnt look impressed when i asked for him to prove to me they are illegal.
He told me to remove them at home and he will be round at my house today/morning to see if they have been taken off, Low and behold he arrives and i didnt take them off.
Told him with a nice little smile on my face ''You cant give me points nor a fine on my property and by the looks of it you have brought no proof they are illegal''
What pissed me off was i was in road works and he overtook 3 cars pulled infront of me and flagged me over making a huge scene with a good 10-11 cars behind me, He had the vosa vehicle inspector with him and he didnt even look at my windows nor my exhaust...
Ive been pulled 10-12 times in the saxo and ive had it what? a month? I got pulled 4 times in the pug and thats it

I know it's easy to complain when the cops are following you all the time, but truth is, young chav idiots drive hatchbacks, especially older clios, saxo's, corsa's etc... it's just a proven fact...
Police also know they are easily knickable... be grateful they are following you, running your reg through, because if someone knicks your car, you would be highly critical if the cops went straight past without doing a check.
Tis frustrating for sure, but tell that to the lad who got his saxo back last week when we pulled a guy over for being on his mobile... stolen car, false plates etc.... forgot to change the VIN though, so reunited with the grateful rightful owner !!!

i been pulled twice in 2 days for my tax being at not a suitable height in the windscreen both of the cops where ok, but alot of my friends get pulled alot for driving about really late at night where there attention is drawn to them cause there the only people on the road, but at the end of the day its the polices job although i get really up tight when there behind me even if i havent done anything wrong
gozzy-vtr
20th March 2008, 09:46
yea well if they were checking my plate to see if someone had stolen my car id be grateful, but im sure they're doing it to see who i am and if im skiping bail for drugs charges or something... i mean sthat what they think. oo look a loud saxo! feckin drug addict! thats what police r like in my area it might be differnet where u live, i think they are just sick to death of saxos so many of em round here now.. everyones copying me ;) lol joking
