been applying for the RAF for some time now and today was my lucky day.

had fitness test and medical (yes i did get groped by a man doctor)

AFCO have requested an allocation date for me so could be off the RAF halton for basic training soon.

anyone on here in the RAF.

I failed my final physical tests which gutted me tbh - I may have another bash at it though. Well done mate and best of luck :y:

they don't do that anymore, they press just at your waistline and say cough :) they do ask you to drop your pants though,to check you've got everything haha

my brother in law been to afghanistan once and iraq twice with the RAF regiment, he loves it but hes leavin in october to become a doorman/bouncer and part time fire fighter or police officer

which test was that, during basic or the pre joining one like i did today.

the pre-joining one - I passed the basic physical and fitness but failed the extended as i was applying as a pilot!

i went cranwell for bursary for p/o pilot fucked up interview too :( did you see baghdad road near the spar? made me rofl

i applied as NCO aircrew, was there for 2 weeks but they found a heart defect. Means im not fit for military service. GUTTED.

they did give give me a letter of reccommendation to whcihever employer i want tho.

I got offered a place flying for the Raf/ fleet airm arm...went to Raf Cramwell aced it all...but when i got my A leval marks back...o dear is all i can say...ment to get an A and 2 B's...got a B an to E's...so iam traing to be a comarical pilot atm an love it to bits...but i need a bit of miltray life so i joined thge Royal marine resvers an it is amazing! Navy did ring my a few weeks back saying that my offer of a pilot stands till iam 23...so may go in as iam only 19 atm! best of luck to you dude!

Im planning on going in next year when i finsh my foundaton degree in I.T, was offered a position as a Communications officer, but i wanna be a pilot :P

Whats the fitness requirments like ?

got my allplication form ready to be sent of. lol as a pilot to, had a basix fitness test and was told i should have no problems and i have the qualifcations!! so fingers crossed.

the guy at the careers place told me a lad failed coz his arm was 2mm to long to fit in a cockpit!! 2mm....thats mad

i find it hard to believe that someones arm was 2mm too long, i think someone was taking the piss there.

they put there fingers at the side of your core just above pubic bone and ask you too cough now

good luck with it all, both my parents were in the raf but i chose the navy instead

yeah its like that for pilos im ex propulsion technician in the RAF... a word of warning its not all smiles and travelling.... you have to take the bad with the good (and i do really mean BAD)
I was based at Lyneham.

cheers for the good luck stuff.

going in as weapons technician (not sure if i mentioned it earlier)

the fitness test is

2.4 km (1.5 miles) in 12min 12 sec
thats all you needto do to pass
you then get assessd on push ups and sit ups. just however many you cn do in a minute.

you cant get failed for it tho.

got to do about 15 press ups and 20 sit ups. not sure tho
