chrome engine cover

would it be ok to use autoglym or meguiars metal polish on the chrome/polished engine covers you can get?
woukld it damage them i.e. remove the chrome?

I would use Autoglym to be on the safe side the chrome polish might be a bit to abrasive.

when i bought mine i tryed to make mine look like a brushed aluminium look by using a wire brush on it, it didnt work, must be triple plated or something, so if that didnt do any harm i very much doubt some metal polish would lol
