What are the most popular mods that people do to their cars?
I'm in the process of adding more companies to my books and was wondering what products it might be worth getting hold of...

Delocking makes a huge difference to the look of the car imo... As does dewipering.

Always the basics like induction and exhausts are good, cosmetics like alloys and then In Car entertainment is always a good one too...

Already way too much competition in the ICE market ;)
I was thinking exhaust, air filters, suspension kits and that was really it. Loads of people buy lexarse lights but that's not very "motorsport" is it!
Can't sell delocking kits either i guess. Is a popular mod though.

Actually thought this was a thread about Moderators! Chris would have to be my fave, no offence you other laydees ;)
If you want to make decent profit you are better off stocking a range of accessories, things like bulbs, badges etc, big mark up and being cheapish it's quick turnaround on stock.
The more expensive stuff I would source a reliable supplier to keep stock for you and oredr in on a next day basis, or deliver straight from supplier

I'm not dealing with any low value products, brake pads(DS2500s, M1144s etc) will probably be the cheapest stuff, low value = low profit...

Helmet? Not the purple variety!!
Not very popular but could be a nifty thing to sell. ;)

...but more sales. Swings and roundabouts mate.
You either need to stock popular items but with a more attractive price (unless you have dodgy suppliers that dictate prices/stock availability) than your competitors, or try to find a niche market/new item that could be popular.
Best thing you can do is contact all your suppliers and ask them what is new coming on the market and try to get an exclusive on the first available batch. If you're doing a mail order service/online shop you should be able to get some clever add on's with "low value" items. Or you could ask if there are any discontinued lines they need to shift and offer them about 60% of what they are asking

More sales = more time consumed, more items being posted, more accounting to do as more orders, more fucking about, it's not worth my hassle selling £10 bulb kits, it's only worth it for a company like halfords because they can buy a shitload for not much money and then sell them at an overinflated price.
There is still space in the market for where i'm aiming, a fair gap ;)
Company is already running and have plenty of suppliers on the books, just i was thinking really that we need to move more mainstream as we're only doing specialised stuff, but also do more specialised stuff.

Fair points well made. Anything orange in that case!
On a serious note, discontinued items and new products alike are where the biz is

Wonder if AP would do a special run of orange calipers? :D
Don't get me wrong, more sales is good. But only in a certain context. 10 orders making £40 per order profit(minus the tax mans cut, minus vat costs) compared to 100 orders at £4 per order profit(minus the shite). Which way will i make more money? In fact the later way i'll lose money, or at least not get any money for my time.

i dont ee the point in delocking yeah the car looks alot smoother but what if your central locking fucks up or if you have popers what you gona do then.thats why wen manufactures have cars without barrels in te door on the pasenger side there is one under the cap on the hadle

I let the battery go flat on my old 3 series and that was delocked, what a fucker that was. Eventually discovered a bonnet release thing through the grille(12 inches to the slam panel) a long screwdriver and some fiddling got the bonnet open and then with a charged battery all was well lol
Cheers guys, my list is more or less complete now, got a good 30 companies to get sorted :o

AlexR. Im in the middle, well coming to the end of my business setup which i will be selling performance parts in Plymouth, i have been doing this research and planning for over 4 years to make sure im supplying to peoples needs and found that exhaust, filters, lowering springs/kits and brakes seem to be the highest demand from people who cant actually get off the shelf so thats what im going to be dealing with in the next month or so.
Hope that helps you buddy;)

We mainly specialise in high end track prep stuff like 4 pots, R888s, speedline wheels, BTB exhaust parts, pugsport range etc but are moving into more mainstream stuff too.
