ok, it sounds like absolute balls to me, but the other day my mate told me that her mom said, be careful of your car, which is my car (my mate is using) because the guy down the road the other day got stopped and had 3 points put on his lisence and a fine because his wheels or alloys were too big on his car? seems stupid to me, but ive been told to be careful because ive got 15 inch alloys and its lowered 40mm, and yes believe it or not its catching at the back, cant have anyone in the back, even though the arches have been cut and everything. wrong et size apparently? anyway more to the point, your car is unfit to drive etc etc if it is rubbing has bigger wheels on and you can get points? lies?

Chances are you have 195,50,15 profile tyres. If you to get the 195,45,15 you should havnt any problems.
About the points and stuff, i have no idea

They can give you a vt19(or similar) which means your MOT expires instantly so you need to finish your journey and not use your car till it's retaken the MOT, they can only give you points for stuff listed in the highway code:

the only way they could have got points is if the car was damaging to the road surface or there had been that much scurbbing the tyres had been made illegal. (less nthan 1.6mm worth of thread across 3/4's of the tyre)

nop, its got 194/45 on, most of the 3 studs have these alloys on here and lusiax (duno how u spell his name) had these and its lowered like 60mm, i was reading his thread. so i dont really know what the problem is :A: but its going back to topgear in the week, only seems to be rubbing on the passenger side. as for what i said before, soundsl ike complete crap to me

what about people that have them euro stretched alloys, i saw a corsa the otherday with some on, and really looked pathetic as they were sticking out at least 10 cm

or if they stick out too far

dont think id have a problem with the lowering to be honest, as its not stupidly low is it, and probably barely recognisable, but as for the alloys, whats the risk of getting pulled as they look big, baically meaning you have just added different wheels to the car, whats wrong with this, seems they have nothing better to do really, but really couldnt believe they had given someone 3 points because they had bigger wheels on duhhh

im not kidding it was absolutley awful, how anyone could like that is beyond me, and yes i like the whole euro look, dished alloys etc, but not when they start sticking out from under the arches, looks ridiculous, wish i could get a picture, you would absolutely take the piss!

If your wheels are catching then i suppose they could say it's not roadworthy/ legal landing you with some points.
On the euro wheels side of thing i'm pretty sure that if the tyre tread is inside the arch then it is ok!

Yeah its only classed as an MOT fail and therefore dangerous if the tyre tread protrudes the arch the dish itself can stick out....hence stretched tyres....Nowt like a bit of tuck and poke ;)

Not true, it's just an advisory! I have the proof, and trust me the MOT'er went through the book with the fine comb! :A:

Jul2vtr's car failed its MOT cos the wheels were touching the inside of the arch when the wheel was full lock. She had to take her 16" allloys off before they would allow her to take the car out of the garage, they said it is illegal and you can get pulled for this.
Apparently its a safety thing tho not anything else.
