Knocking Rattling FRONT END HELP

Hiya, well the cars been driving sweet, gotta admit i haven't actually driven at the speed limit yet, which is worrying...

MK2 VTR 2000 by the way

But.........

I have the most annoying knocking coming from the front!

First of all it sounded like it was from the left

But now it sounds like its central. I have checked exhaust/heat shield as first port of call but what else could it be? it doesnt do it so much on cornering, mainly on straight bumpy roads or speed bumps

Its a metal rattle knock (if that makes sense)

I'll be checking drop links and lower wishbone bolts ASAP

But any help beforehand would be great

exactly same problem. thoyught it was drop links. garage said today wishbone. thanks

Hi There.

I'm also getting this rattling/knocking noise from the front. Its very annoying and only happens when the car gets a bit of a shake meaning when going over a speed bump or starting to drive off in first gear. I can even feel the vibration of the rattle on pedals. The mechanic can't suss it out. He goes he's checked everything wishbone, cv joint etc. It seems very dangerous to drive so i need to find it ASAP.

Any ideas please???

I'm not sure if its the same kind of noise/vibration but my 2002 vtr had a really bad vibration noise which was a metalic noise it took me ages the find what it was and after different mechanics telling me it was the exhaust, shocks and wishbones it actually turned out to be a engine mount. The mechanics wedged the engineto check the mounts and said they were fine but it turned out a bolt had the fread ripped off it and was loose. only cost £20 to find and fix the fault

iv got the same problem but it happens more when turning slightly right over bumps but the whole car shakes all the way thru the revs my mate said its the driveshaft but im stuck between the drive shaft and engine mount now.

May not be the problem but I had a similar rattling noise going over bumps & when accelerating it turned out to be the manifold heat shield.I got a new heat shield & bolts problem now fixed.Get someone to rev the car whilst pushing down with a screwdriver on the shield see if it goes away.
