Open Scandal roof not working

Hi, I recently bought a second hand Saxo Open Scandal. The roof doesn't open at all, you can hear a motor doing something but it just doesn't move the roof. Does anybody know if this is a common problem, if it is fixable either by myself or someone else and how I would go about doing it?
