ok, last wee question guys!

i had to replace my back axel for MOT, so i now have that all done,

i bled the brakes for nearly an hour and used nearly 4 bottles of brake fluid to make sure that there was no air in the system!

i also before MOT put on new brakes discs and pads,

but, when i got into the car and started driving, it seems like i have to put my foot NEARLY to the floor to get it to brake hard, its about half way down it brakes very very lightly!

now i havent been driving my saxo before this, so cant really tell how good or bad saxo's brakes are, but can anyone tell me whether this is the way the saxo's brakes are, or is there STILL air in the system?

thanks again!

before driving you did pump the brake a few times yeah

What method did you use to bleed the brakes?

my brakes on my saxo arent very good i have the exact same problem and i drove my moms new fiesta befor i got my saxo, i would prefer my moms saxo for the ride. but i love saxo's, i took it to my uncle who works at the halfords garage and he said that its a common problem on saxo's n pugs.

Is it worth me doing the same as what alan has done ?

im not 100% but if its anything like bike brakes then, when you bled them you had to push the pistons back into their bores, then put sumthing there to prevent the pistons from moving n pump the break pedal with a nipple open?

when youve done all that and youve finished u have to pump the brake to getthe fluid into the bores to push the pistons out to set agaisnt the disk rotor.

might not be identical to that but probs have to pump the brakes.

how did u bleed them, did you bleed from the furthest away from the res?

10 pumps method? auto bleeder? 2 man method?

loads of possibilites and no its not a common problem but thats what happens when you work at halfords, nearly all employess guess or make it up

alex knows what im talking about

Don't use an 1 man bleed kit. And bleeding for an hour realy is too long lol! Get your mate to pump the pedal until its hard then hold it down. Undo one bleed screw at a time so the pedal travels straight to the floor and hold for a few seconds. Do up the bleed screw and do the same again until the fluid has no air in. move to the next one. Go round the car twice and you should be good to go.

Note:

Make sure the bleed pipe is immersed in NEW brake fluid (pour a little in the bottom of a jar and stick the pipe into it) do not let the pipe come out of the fluid!

Work diagonally, there is a specific bleed sequence which must be adhered to. always do the screw diagonally oposite from the one you just did even if you don't follow the sequence. The saxo uses a diagonal system so if one circuit goes you have equal corner braking

Don't excessively pump the pedal when the screw is open, a little bit may be needed to start the flow but it should move on its own

Don't unscrew the bleed screw too far, just enough to start the flow

Keep the reservoir above the min level at all times!, bleed a little, check, bleed a little, check.

The whole process takes me 10 minutes

yeah, well i used the two man method!

he pumped the pedal for a wile, i then opened the bleed screw, i only done the back two tho, as i only has the brake pipes off the back two!

should i have done all of them?

so whats the sequence i do them in then?

rear drivers side, rear pass, front driver, front pass??

thanks

Bleed them up
