Been searching the net for ages trying to find out some specific info on police speed camera's etc. So now with no luck, ill see what you guys can come up with.

Suppose you were driving on a 60mph dual carridgeway and are trvelling at approx. 68mph, spot the cops and slow down. But they had their speed camera on you, do they have to chase you and pull you over and issue a ticket etc, or nowadays do they just get you registration and send it via the post??

The cops i saw recently use a speed camera more like a camcorder that he holds up to his eye rather than holding a gun at full strech.

Plus do they have to send paperwork out within 14days??

Cheers guys,
Piperx

my dad got done for doing 46mph in a 40mph - but instead of getting a fine thru the post he had a choice - either take a fine and points or go to a meeting with other speeders and watch a serious of vids of crashes due to speeding etc then u have to listen to fire - ambulance and police officials talk to you etc - dad obv took that option so u may be lucky

pretty sure u get wot like 14 days to respond back to them - you have to fill in this form and also send both parts of your license off also as they add the points to it - may have changed now though

but then again u may be lucky mate - fingers crossed

well i got my letter two weeks after i got cot from the speed camera, and filled out all the info but not had anything back yet

and i think the le way is like u can do 1mph on every 10mph

so 30 zone allowed 33mph:boxing:

Sorry to hear that stu
was it a stationary camera or hand held by the cops??

Then again, the cops hand these speeds guns out to anyone these days!!! ;)

I got bagged by one of Northamptonshire's new 'reverse' Truvelo scameras last year...bearing in mind these this type of camera is supposed to be a forward facing type it got me going away from it..in my truck :wall:

Had a nice letter from the Bill 4 days later saying at 37mph in a 30 limit at 6.35am (main road) I was a danger to society and needed to give them £60 of my finest and in return I'd get 3 bonus points....bastards they are...all of them :rage:

No offer of the 'speed awareness' course just a straight 3 points on my clean licence...

So i'd say 36 would be the borderline...

if they send u a ticket, u can fight it, cus u have a decent case cus the gun might not of been calibrated so tthey relli do av to chase u and stop u so they can prove the gun is calibrated which most of the time they dont carry the equipment to do this. jus thought id let u in on that little chestnut lol.

only read the first post..
its 10% of the limit and +2 if its safe to do so... the police regard safe as no other cars it seems tho..

also remember the saxo speedo is wrong so take away about 3mph anyways.

eg

60mph + 10% = 66

66 - 3 = 63mph you were going..
but i was told recently they take this into account and they wont send you one for no reason

Doesnt always work though as people have been using that for a while now, and if your cheeky enough to try it you run the risk of them being bastards and being even harsher :panic:
